With the location of the last two classmates known, Lilith, Ethan, and I headed straight toward the training area, which was closest to the low-class dorm. As we walked there, as promised, Ethan had been reading a plethora of love poems to Lilith. I have to admit, for a guy who is head-over-heels in love, he was quite the poet. I had thought after his first speech about how much Lilith’s words matter the world to him compared to everyone else’s that his poems were just as cheesy or overbearing, but they were actually pretty good. Likewise, I assumed his poems were all love poems toward Lilith in some way, but not all the poems were like that, which was a relief to me, because I don't think I can handle a journey's worth of love reading. Lilith, on the other hand... Let's just say she did not seem to be paying much attention to the readings."And that concludes fifteen of the thirty seven poems I have written, my beloved," Ethan said.
"I know my opinion isn't going to matter, but I have to say, you make quite the poet," I stated.
"As you say, your opinion matters very little to me, but thank you all the same." To Lilith, he asked, "And you, my dear Lilith?"
"You know my response. I have been giving you the same response the past fourteen poems, as well as the poems before them," she told him.
"I know, but knowing your response and hearing them are two completely different things. Please, my love, indulge this noble's ears~"
I glanced at Lilith, wondering how she was taking such pleading. Through her neutral expression, I could see her eyes were quite dead, clearly stating she much rather do anything else, or maybe be anywhere else.
"If you truly must know, like the other poems, I quite like it, especially how you compared the beauties between the lilies and the hydrangeas. Colors aside, it never occur to me that putting them together would make a wonderful bouquet as you had described it. Of course, saying such a thing and truly displaying it are two different things," she said.
"And that I am aware. That is why, the day we are allowed to return home, I shall make a fabulous bouquet out of those flowers just for you, my beloved. And I will make them using your favorite colors~"
From this little conversation alone, I had to say, for someone who could not handle all the overbearing love, Lilith had been paying close attention to all the poems Ethan read. Whether she was being nice to him or I misunderstood her expressions, I was not sure, but at the very least their relationship seemed to be going well.
"We're here," I announced, noticing the doors to the training hall up ahead.
"It seems I'll be holding off on the rest for later, dear," Ethan then said to Lilith.
"So it would seem," she agreed with a light sigh, one I assume was relief.
As I reached for the door, I felt an odd chill radiating from it.
"Did it get cold here or is it just me?" Ethan asked.
"Now that you mentioned it..." Lilith trailed off, no doubt also feeling the chill.
Following her words, the door knob started to freeze up, and ice started poking out from under the doors, insinuating that something must be happening in the training ground, as I proceeded to kick the doors open. They swung open with a slam, revealing a snow storm in the middle of the field. We were surprised to see a storm in the training ground, especially considering the fact that it was supposed to be a clear day today, and there wasn't even a speck of cloud up above the building earlier. Some screams were also heard from within, muffled within the storm.
"What's going on in there?!" Lilith gasped.
"Can't be a monster attack! Maybe a problem in training?!" Ethan guessed.
"If it is, our classmate could be in danger!" I exclaimed. "Someone get a teacher!" As I gave that order, I rushed into the storm, ignoring the two nobles' calls to return.
As I rushed in, I shivered greatly from the cold, but endured it as best as I could. I was not sure which of the two classmates was involved in this, but they had to be freezing in this storm.
As I walked deeper into the storm, I couldn't help but hear more of the screams around me, followed by shouts and pleas for forgiveness. Just those alone told me that this storm was the result of a bullying attempt gone wrong, an act that made me question if there was any decent high-class human nobles.
I sensed a wave of mana coming from behind me and hastily brought up a water barrier with my magic. The instant I did, something struck it and slowly made its way through the slowly-freezing liquid towards me. I hastily leaned to the side to avoid them, and my apparent attacker.
The attacker slid on all fours and turned to me. From what I could see, this person was a male, wearing the academy's student uniform. His hair was messy and white with black streaks, his glaring eyes were piercing blue, and he had a white tail with black spots. Not only that, his teeth were sharp, quite like fangs, and as I looked at his hands, his nails were sharp and truly claw-like.
My eyes widened upon seeing this person before me, specifically the state he was in. I had read it in books before, but to think I would actually see it for myself.
A crossbreed gone feral.
