Attempt to Settle In

As it would turn out, it was not just the uniforms and schedule Mindy and I had to pick up. As we were now students of the Royal Academy, we were also put into a dorm during our stay here. I imagine it was more because we were now considered as adults and had to provide for ourselves. At least... that was what I thought...

"Our dorm is somewhere this deep in the woods?" Mindy asked the person leading us.

"You two are commoners, right? There is no mistaking it," he bluntly said.

The first half of his response made me raise a brow, as I had to wonder exactly what our dorm looked like.

Another hour of walking later, we were finally out of the woods and into a meadow. In the middle of the meadow was a building. A very wooden, run down building. One that would most certainly seem haunted if it were midnight. It did not help that as Mindy and I took in the sight of our apparent dorm, part of the roof fell off with a thud.

"Well, I took you two to your dorm. Have fun while you can, monster and cheater," the guy lazily said as he took his leave.

Mindy glared at the man as he left. "Calling me a 'monster' is one thing, but Lady Levi a 'cheater'?! Who does he think he is?!"

"It can't be helped. I doubt anyone would've ever thought a commoner would take fifth place on the entrance exam," I told her.

"But even so..."

I patted her on the head to silence her. "It's fine. We're the only ones who know what really happened on the exam. Still..." I looked back to our apparent dorm building. "... If this dorm is for commoners, I hope Azalea and the other commoner students are willing to help clean this up. Then again, if they choose not to, I'm sure the two of us can get this done ourselves."

"True, it'll be like cleaning our home," Mindy compared. "Speaking of, are you sure about staying here rather than our house?"

"Well, yeah. We were offered a free place to stay that is closer to school. And we will have more company here. Plus, considering we're supposed to be commoners, if we were to stay in our home, it may raise some suspicions. Suspicions I doubt he would want to hear," I pointed out.

A small pout was formed on Mindy's face when I said that last part, aware of who I meant by 'him'. "I mean, you already discarded the cloak, and he said nothing about it. I don't see why he shouldn't have to deal with whatever rumors will come up at this point."

I held back a laugh at the point she made and removed my hand from her head. "Well, in any case, we know where our dorm is, and we have our uniform and schedule. School starts tomorrow, too, so let's go home and pack up some things. It'd be best if we get some cleaning supplies, as well."

"Right, Lady Levi." With that, the harpy grabbed the human by the shoulders and flew them back to their house.

When they returned with their luggage and cleaning supplies, they were surprised to see what became of their dorm in the short time they were gone. Or rather... what was left of it.

"Ah! Levi! Mindy!" Azalea called.

"Azalea! What happened here?" I asked.

"W-Well... Some nobles came here looking for you, but when I and the other commoners told them we didn't know you or where you were... Well... As you can see, they destroyed our dorm."
