Chapter 16

1444 Words

Sixteen Saturday evening, laterThe next twenty minutes are a blur of non-stop activity. I definitely worry that Zanzie is gonna lose it when the lionfish from the opening act escapes and starts tearing through the big finale costume rack just minutes before the curtain time. I really would have thought that a trio of lionfish tamers could keep their fish under control, but apparently not. “Go, get changed,” I tell her. “Goby and I can handle it.” Goby nods. “We’ve got this.” The sneaky little critter is determined to maintain his freedom. We manage to recapture the lionfish and get him back into his bubble carrier just as Zanzia returns in a sequined top that matches the magenta shade in her rainbow hair. Big and bold glitter decorates one side of her face and the tip of her tailfin.
