Friday nightThe bleachers around the QSA stadium are overflowing. Give Back Week games always draws a big crowd. The whole school turns out, along with a lot of family members and alumni.
So far this season, attendance at regular games has been pretty dismal. Everyone says the team’s prospects are grim without Zak to lead them and, if I’m being honest, they might not be wrong. We haven’t won a single game yet.
No wonder the stands have been practically empty.
Tonight, though, the stands are as full as they used to be when Zak played. Beyond full. There are merfolk floating anywhere and everywhere they can get a view of the field.
It was supposed to be a surprise, but clearly the secret is out.
