After tossing out her sharp words, Nadia began closing the door with an icy calm.
Jonas' eyes widened in shock. He hadn't expected her to actually shut the door, and he instinctively reached out to stop her, certain she would relent at the last moment.
He couldn't have been more wrong. Nadia didn't just close the door. She slammed it with all her might!
The result? Jonas let out a guttural scream, "Ahhh! My hand! My hand!"
His right hand was caught squarely in the door.
If not for the surge of adrenaline and his quick reflexes, his bones might have been shattered.
"Oh my, I'm so sorry, I didn't see you there. Is your hand all right, Mr. Wright?" Nadia asked with a feigned concern, though inside, she reveled in his well-deserved pain.
