Chapter 6 Hospital Incident

Latonya nearly lost her balance from the slap but was caught just in time by Erna. "You little brat! How dare you hit my daughter!" Erna screamed, raising her hand to retaliate, only for Nadia to firmly catch it and then deliver another slap to Latonya's other cheek. "Now that I've hit you, are you really surprised? You asked if I dared, and now you can see for yourself," Nadia said coolly, her expression devoid of warmth. Latonya stared at Nadia in disbelief. 'Why am I being attacked for something I haven't even said?' Her furious expression mixed with a hint of grievance, making both Brett and his wife feel deeply sorry for her. "You ungrateful girl! Not only do you barge in without knocking, but you also hit your sister! What kind of upbringing is that?" Brett scolded. "Do I need to be polite to someone who has no manners?" Nadia shot back. "And by the way, have you ever heard of someone needing to knock to enter their own home?" "You're talking nonsense! This is my house! You were taken away by those poor relatives when you were eight. You haven't been part of this family for years!" Latonya retorted. When Nadia's uncles came to take her after receiving the news, they had gotten into a car accident on the way. Thankfully, no one was seriously hurt, but their car was rendered unusable, so they had to rent a taxi to reach the Marquez family. Nadia looked at Brett with a smirk. "Whose villa is this? Who owns Marquez Group? Your dad knows the answer! But if he refuses to acknowledge it, we'll just have to take it to court!" She handed him the documents in her hand. "You have three days to pack up and move out of this villa!" With that, she turned to leave, but then remembered something. She looked back at Latonya, a smirk creeping onto her lips. "Oh, by the way, I forgot to mention—your mom is the mistress, and you're just the mistress's daughter!" "Little tramp..." "Nadia Marquez!" "I'm Nadia Chung!" she snapped coldly, not bothering to look back as she walked out of the Marquez family home, leaving the three of them seething behind her. "Dad! What's going on? She must be lying!" Latonya shouted. "Honey, that little brat is back. What are we going to do? I wish we had never let her live!" Erna added, panic in her voice. "Enough!" Brett shot her a warning glare. Realizing their daughter was still present, Erna fell silent, her face clouded with worry. "Don't worry. Even with these documents, it won't matter as long as we don't acknowledge her. She won't get a thing from Marquez Group!" Brett's gaze darkened, revealing a hint of malice. Meanwhile, after leaving the Marquez family, Nadia sat in a taxi, lost in thought as she watched the scenery whiz by. Suddenly, the car was violently jolted from the side, followed by the screeching of brakes and the sound of a crash. All she could hear was her own heartbeat, and then warm blood began to trickle down her forehead, obscuring her vision. Through the haze, she caught a glimpse of Becky stepping out of the car that had hit her, her expression dark. And then, everything went black. ***** When Nadia regained consciousness, her entire body throbbed with pain. She stared at the sterile white ceiling, the smell of disinfectant making her feel disoriented. "Water..." she croaked, her throat dry. Just then, the door burst open with a loud bang. "Nadia! Who gave you the guts to crash into Becky?" Jonas stormed over to her bedside, gripping her collar and pulling her upright. The sudden movement made her head throb even worse, and she struggled against his grip, desperately trying to push his hand away. "Let me go, Jonas!" "I didn't hit her! She hit me!" Just before she passed out, she had seen Becky, and now, seeing them both together, everything clicked into place. "Fine, if Ms. Chung says it was my fault, then it is," Becky said sweetly. "Jonas, don't make this harder for her. Let's just drop it. I don't blame her." "Becky, you're still so kind!" Jonas replied, then turned sharply to Nadia. "Apologize to Becky!" "Dream on!" Nadia's voice was steady, her defiance clear as she held back her pain. Becky's car had crashed into the side of the taxi she was in, directly hitting the rear passenger seat where Nadia was seated. That's why her injuries were so severe, while Becky only had a few scratches. Seeing Nadia's stubbornness irritated Jonas. "If you won't apologize, then I'll make you!" With that, he strode to her bedside and yanked her out of the bed. The impact sent her crashing to the floor with a thud. The pain shot through her leg, which was in a cast, and she broke out in a cold sweat. Jonas seemed to finally notice her injury, freezing in place. "Your leg..." 'If Nadia really caused the accident, why is she hurt so badly?' Becky, too, was shocked and stood up quickly, though she quickly composed herself and said sweetly, "Jonas, Nadia is hurt badly! Thank goodness your car has a high safety rating, or it would've been me seriously injured." Her feigned concern only further swayed Jonas. "Indeed, she's getting what she deserves! I don't know why Grandpa thought you were kind-hearted!" Jonas's anger was mixed with disdain, which effectively masked the flicker of unexpected concern that had begun to arise in him. He glared at the frail Nadia, rubbing his temples in frustration before squatting down to grip her chin tightly. "Apologize, and Becky won't hold you accountable for your deliberate harm!" He thought he was helping her out. Since this was technically Nadia's fault, apologizing would be the simplest solution. "I would rather die than apologize!" Nadia shot back defiantly, then suddenly bit down hard on his hand. "Ah!" Pain shot through him as he jerked his hand back, causing Nadia to be thrown aside, blood streaming from her forehead. But the look on her face was one of satisfaction. "Nadia, you're asking for it!" Her nonchalant attitude enraged Jonas. He twisted his face and slapped her hard across the cheek. She remained silent, slowly turning her face back, her cheek red and swollen, eyes filled with contempt for him. Jonas's chest heaved, and he suddenly grasped her neck, forcing her backward until her back hit the bed. Pain and the sensation of suffocation rushed in, yet her gaze burned fiercely as she glared at him. "Jonas, you coward who hits women! Since we broke up, the men I've been with are a thousand times better than you. I've never looked down on you!" Her words sent Jonas into a rage. With a violent motion, he shoved her chin to the side! Then he threw her down onto the floor, raising his fist to strike her! The punch was aimed directly at her eye! At that moment— With a loud crash, the glass door to the hospital shattered! Sharp shards flew into Jonas's face, instantly slicing his skin and sending blood gushing out! He turned in shock, bellowing, "Which little tramp dares—" But his words faltered! Jonas's expression froze, his eyes widening in horror as he stared at the man walking in, looking as imposing as a deity...
