Chapter Two Monday

521 Words
Grace When lunch comes around I’m famished. I can’t drag out of Syd what’s the matter so I decide to let it slide for now. If I push she’ll pull and I don’t want to fight. I sit at the table right as Gabriella asks if anyone else was invited to an all weekend party. I’ve not been to my locker but everyone answers. I glance at Syd but she’s far off somewhere else. I bite my lip and try to say something when my brother kicks my chair. I shoot him a glare but he nonchalantly shakes his head telling me to leave her be. What is up with him? I sigh and pick at my food. As we can out after lunch I can’t find my friend anywhere. I go to class and wait. She comes in as the bell rings so I can’t say anything to her. Planned I’m sure. “Are you going to the party?” I ask noticing she indeed has an invitation as well. “Maybe.” She shrugs. “What? You have to!” I whisper frantically. Her lips quirk and I know she was pulling my leg. “Brat.” I say nudging her with my shoulder. She only rolls her eyes at me. We sit and listen to the review for our tests. We’ll try to listen. I’m thinking about this party. By the end of the day I have my outfit picked out. I meet Syd and Henry at her car. She’s still in a sour mood. Henry arches a brow at me but I only sigh climbing into the car. “Do you wanna come over?” I ask her. She’s not been over since her and Bryce broke up at the beginning of the year. “Can’t today.” She says. “Tomorrow then?” Henry pipes in. “Maybe.” She shrugs. I sigh as I see my house come into view. “I’ll see you tomorrow then.” I say getting out and going inside. “See ya.” She says. “Nothing then?” Henry asks. “No.” “I asked Bryce if she seemed off today.” He offers and now he’s got my attention. “And?” “It was Bryce.” He says rolling his eyes. “I don’t see why you tow can’t get along. What’s he don’t besides dumping Syd? Which isn’t our business.” I clarify. “He’s a douch, sis.” He says like it’s the most obvious thing in the world. “So are you.” I point out heading up the stairs and to my bedroom. I hear him say something but I don’t catch it. Honestly I’m surprised he even noticed Sydney’s mood. He’s usually too far gone up his own ass. I didn’t even see him all over gabby today which was definitely new. Perhaps they had a fight or he’s starting to see that she’s a w***e. Though I guess that’s his type lately. Not that I blame him. Eventually it’ll catch up to him though. Seems he’s just full of surprises.
