Chapter Nineteen Friday Bedtime

489 Words
Sydney To say I’m shocked about the room assignments would be an understatement. Brennan, Grace, Henry and I share a room. Gabby and Jen. And then Bryce and whatever girl he picks up. I stand in the center of the room taking it all in. It’s glamorous just like I figured. There’s two queen sized beds and two dressers with a huge tv on the wall. It’s a little bare for my taste but I mean whatever. I glance at Henry and he looks agitated which on a good day would be funny but because if the situation I don’t dare laugh. I watch as Grace walks into the room from the bathroom. Brennan looks amused and I wanna punch him and tell him to take it seriously. Henry and Grace aren’t siblings you want to come between when they’re fighting. Been there done that. I hit my lip and focus on the others in the room. Grace stands in front of the beds torn. It would be funny if we weren’t all drunk and Bryce hadn’t been his usual charming self. “No way.” Henry says to her. “You two are gonna spoon?” I ask him pointing between the boys. Henry mutters something colorful and Grace smiles at me. Then I realize that I just implied I sleep with him in the same bed. Crap. “Brennan and Sydney. Grace and I.” Henry says laying down. “Whatever.” Grace rolls her eyes and lays beside him. She might just kill him in his sleep. The thought makes me laugh and Brennan seems to get it to because he nods in agreement. I look at the clock not understanding how we functioned until three in the morning. Brennan passes out as soon as he closes his eyes and Grace is right behind him. I lie there thinking when Henry speaks. “About what Bryce was saying down stairs. He was drunk and I’m not defending the guy but well you know how he is.” He says. “It doesn’t bother me anymore.” “What doesn’t?” “His personality.” “Something about him does though.” He guesses and I sigh. He’s not wrong. “He just knows things.” I say rolling over onto my side. “He’s good at that.” Henry says. It makes me wonder if Bryce knows things about everyone in our group and that’s why we keep him around. I shudder at the thought. “You looked good tonight Syd.” Henry yawns. “It was a lot of makeup.” “Not that. Physically too yes I’m a guy so I noticed. I just mean you looked free from him. Happy. That’s why he did it. He doesn’t like that.” Don’t I know. The thing is though if I told my friends, he’d have nothing over me. But I don’t want that pity.
