C1 - Exclusive Game

1161 Words
DO YOU WANT TO PLAY AN EXCLUSIVE GAME THAT IS OUT OF THIS WORLD FOR ONLY THE BEST OF THE BEST? The text interrupted his game playing, “what the hell?!”  Furiously he pushes random buttons, thinking his game has been hacked. ‘Dammit, it might be a virus?!’ he thinks as he quickly unplugs his computer. “Great, ten hours of playing, gone! That is what you get for not taking the time to save,” he says angrily, speaking to himself. He plugs his computer in again and starts it up. PRESS ENTER IF YOU WANT TO PLAY AN EXCLUSIVE GAME FOR ONLY THE BEST OF THE BEST The text flickers again onto his screen. “Ok, fine,” he says pressing ENTER just to get it off his screen so that he can continue playing his game, hoping it is not a virus. ‘Thank goodness,’ he says as the text disappears.  He lounges into his gaming chair and continues playing his game. “Knock, knock,” his mother says, knocking at his bedroom door the next day. “Morning mom,” he says, stretching. “Afternoon, actually,” his mother says, wondering when her twenty-year-old son will leave the nest and get an actual job, not really understanding the whole YouTube gamer profession. “Crap,” he jumps up and grabs his gaming controller. “Well, this came for you,” she hands him an envelope. “Cool, probably a credit card offer,” he says, feeling the hard bank card size item inside. He puts it down and put on his headset. His mother just shakes her head and leave the room to go bring him some food, knowing if she doesn’t, he will starve, playing his games. OPEN THE ENVELOPE The text runs across his screen. “Again, this s**t?” He asks out loud throwing his controller down and opening the envelope. Inside the envelope he finds a transparent card with his credentials on; “James Leland,” he reads his own name of the card.  He turns the card around and around looking for anything else but there is nothing.  Holding the card to the light with his thumb perfect on it the card scans his fingerprint and text appears on the card, displaying and address.  “Nifty,” he says as he reads the address of the card. James Leland got into YouTube gaming at the age of sixteen, not finishing school.  Even though he is not making millions yet, he does have a steady income that is growing steadily as he gain more subscribers to his YouTube channel.  He loves playing futuristic war games.  James is about to go online for a scheduled live game when he realised that his is like an hour late. ‘Guess I can go check this out,’ he thinks to himself, putting the card into his pocket. After brushing his teeth and styling his mousy blond hair he puts some eyedrops into his tired, dark blue eyes.  On his way out he grabs a cold meat sandwich his mother just made, “see you later, don’t wait up,” James says with a mouth full. James arrived at four tall buildings he is familiar with.  At night blue light shines from each of them into the sky. He looks around, wondering where exactly he should go as he has reached the address on the card.  James takes out the card and puts his thumb flat on it.  A map appears on it, like a live gps showing him in what direction to walk.  It takes him to one of the tall black buildings but not to the front door.  James stands in front of the building looking around but see no door.  He stands closer to the wall, to inspect it and as he gets closer a blue light scans his eyes.  The walls move away, and James hesitantly walks into the building, fearful that the walls will close on him.  The walls closing behind him with every step he gives, give him a fright.  James walks faster towards the colourful lights. James reaches the colourful lights and steps into a room that is white but appears colourful as neon lights brighten it up. “Hello James,” a soothing, female voice speaks to him. James looks around but he is alone. “Thank you for joining us,” the voice says. “Please don’t be scared. Put your hands up to your side and close your eyes,” the voice instructs. “Why?” James finally manages to get out. “You are about to enter a world different from earth and need to be sterilised so that you don’t carry germs or viruses from your world to mine.” “I thought I am going to play a game?” James asks, turning around, looking for where the voice is coming from. “Yes, a game out of this world.” “So, the text literally meant; out of this world?” James asks, wondering if someone is playing a prank on him. “Yes, do you want to continue?” James puts his arms to his side and closes his eyes, deciding to play along with the prank. After he has been sterilised, the ceiling opens up above him.  James looks up and before he knew it, he is levitating at an incredible speed towards the sky and after a blinding light he is in what appears to be another world. The doors opens and a girl that looks no older than a teenager, dressed in a full grey body suit, comes in holding a transparent box. “Hello James, welcome to my planet.  My name is Zadia and you are on Uzar, a planet in a galaxy that your earth call galaxy GN-z11, at 13.4 billion light-years, or 134 nonillion kilometres away from your earth.” “Sure, if you say so,” James looks around to see if he can see any cameras. Zadia’s blond hair is neatly tied back wads, with a fair skin, almost as white as snow and grey eyes. Zadia puts the transparent box down on the only table in the room.  Inside James can see a black band and a gaming controller that looks similar to his at home. Zadia takes the lid off the box, “go on, take it.” James reach in and takes the band out first, wondering what it is. “See it as a VR, it serves the same purpose,” Zadia explains. James puts it on his eyes, and he can see Zadia trough them.  James reach into the box and takes the controller, “feels and looks just like my controller at home.” “That is because it is, we create a controller to match each players preference, to insure best results.” “So when do I start playing?” James wants to know.
