🖤 Chapter 2 — You Belong to Me Now
Rain still clung heavily to Elena’s skin as she stood frozen in front of Xander.
Her heart hadn’t stopped racing since the moment she witnessed the murder.
And now… it felt even worse.
“She’s the traitor’s fiancée.”
The words echoed in her head again and again.
“No,” Elena finally said, shaking her head quickly. “That’s not true. I don’t even know what you’re talking about.”
Xander didn’t react immediately.
He just watched her.
Silent. Still. Controlled.
That silence was more suffocating than any threat.
“I barely knew him,” Elena continued desperately. “He never told me anything important. He just… came and went. I didn’t even understand his life.”
Xander tilted his head slightly, as if weighing her words.
Then he stepped closer.
Elena instinctively stepped back.
A guard moved behind her immediately.
Blocking her escape.
Her stomach tightened.
Xander noticed.
“Back off,” he ordered calmly.
The guard obeyed instantly.
That single command told Elena everything.
This man didn’t need to raise his voice to be obeyed.
He controlled everything.
Elena swallowed hard. “What do you want from me?”
Xander studied her for a moment.
Then answered simply:
“Right now… nothing.”
That confused her more than anything.
Before she could respond, a sharp beep echoed from one of the men’s devices.
Immediately, Xander’s expression changed.
Not angry.
Alert.
Dangerous.
“Boss,” one of the men rushed forward. “Two vehicles approaching from the north route.”
Silence broke instantly.
Then chaos.
“Positions!” Xander ordered.
Everything moved at once.
Men pulled weapons.
Elena stepped back in panic.
“What is happening?!” she shouted.
No one answered her.
Gunshots exploded in the distance.
Elena flinched violently.
A man fell nearby.
She screamed.
Xander grabbed her wrist instantly.
“Stay close,” he said firmly.
“I don’t understand any of this!” she cried.
A second explosion echoed.
Xander pulled her behind a black SUV.
“Stay down,” he ordered.
Bullets tore through the night air.
Elena covered her ears, trembling.
“This isn’t about you,” Xander said suddenly.
Elena looked at him.
“What do you mean it’s not about me?! They’re shooting at me too!”
Xander’s eyes flicked to her.
Cold. Focused.
“They came because of you.”
Her blood turned cold.
“That’s impossible…”
Another gunshot interrupted her sentence.
Xander moved instantly, shooting back without hesitation.
His movements were precise—controlled violence.
Elena couldn’t look away.
He wasn’t just dangerous.
He was trained for war.
A man suddenly broke through the side and rushed toward them.
Elena screamed.
Xander turned slightly and shot him before he even got close.
The body dropped instantly.
Elena froze completely.
Her breathing stopped.
Xander didn’t even react.
As if death meant nothing to him.
Then he turned to her.
“You’re connected to something bigger than you realize,” he said.
“I’m not connected to anything!” she snapped.
Another explosion hit nearby.
Heat rushed through the air.
Xander suddenly grabbed her face, forcing her to look at him.
“Listen carefully,” he said sharply.
Her breath caught.
From this distance, she could feel how close he was.
How controlled he was.
“How you survive from this moment… depends entirely on me.”
Elena’s lips trembled. “I didn’t do anything wrong.”
Xander’s gaze dropped briefly to her lips before returning to her eyes.
“That doesn’t matter anymore.”
Gunfire intensified around them.
One of his men shouted, “They’re closing in!”
Xander pulled her close instantly.
Protecting her without hesitation.
Elena stiffened.
For a second, she felt something she didn’t understand.
Safety.
But it vanished quickly under the chaos.
When the attack finally slowed, smoke filled the air.
Xander didn’t let go of her.
Instead, he spoke quietly near her ear:
“From now on, you don’t move without me.”
Elena pulled back slightly. “I’m not your prisoner.”
Xander’s expression darkened slightly.
“You are alive because I decide it.”
Silence fell between them.
Then—
A guard approached quickly.
“Boss… her location was confirmed. The opposition knows she’s with us.”
Xander’s grip tightened on Elena’s wrist.
Elena’s heart dropped.
“Who knows?! What is going on?!”
Xander didn’t answer immediately.
Instead, he pulled her toward a black SUV.
“Get in,” he ordered.
“I’m not going anywhere with you until you explain—”
A gunshot cracked through the air.
The bullet hit just inches from her head.
Elena screamed.
Xander shoved her inside the car instantly and followed.
The door slammed shut.
The engine roared to life.
As the vehicle sped into the dark forest road, Elena turned toward him, shaking.
“What are you doing with me?!” she cried.
Xander didn’t look at her at first.
Only the road ahead.
Then he said quietly:
“You don’t understand what you’ve stepped into.”
Elena’s voice broke. “Then tell me!”
Silence.
Then he finally turned to her.
His eyes were darker now.
Heavier.
Controlled.
“You’re no longer just a witness,” he said.
Her breath caught.
“You’re bait.”
Elena froze.
“What does that even mean?”
Xander leaned back slightly, as if making a decision that couldn’t be reversed.
“It means…” he paused.
The car moved faster through the dark.
“…they will come for you until you’re dead.”
Elena shook her head. “I don’t even know them!”
Xander finally looked at her fully.
And this time, his voice dropped lower.
“You don’t need to know them.”
A pause.
Then the words that shattered her completely:
“You’re coming with me.”
Elena’s lips parted. “Where?”
Xander’s eyes didn’t leave hers.
“Home.”
Her chest tightened.
“Home…?”
The car entered deeper darkness.
No lights.
No escape.
Only forest ahead.
Then Xander said it—calmly, firmly, permanently:
“And soon… you will become my wife.”
Elena went still.
Completely still.
Her voice barely came out.
“I didn’t agree to that.”
Xander turned fully toward her now.
Cold. Certain. Unmovable.
“You don’t have a choice.”
Silence swallowed the car.
Only the sound of tires on wet road remained.
Elena slowly turned toward the window, trembling.
But before she could process anything—
Xander added one final line, quieter than the rest.
“This is the only way I keep you alive.”
The car drove deeper into darkness.
And Elena finally realized something terrifying.
She wasn’t escaping anymore.
She was being taken somewhere she would never leave the same.
