I wake up with a jolt, my eyes flying open as I throw my body up. A sharp pain aches on the side of my head, making my fingers reach up and gently touch the sensitive spot. That lowlife liar! I rage in my head, just as I notice I'm not alone. I certainly don't expect to find Nate sitting in the back of what appears to be an enclosed moving machine. He doesn't appear to be chained or too badly harmed as I run my eyes over him but something is definitely wrong.
"Where are we?" I ask nervously, wondering at his strange behavior.
There are dark rings around his eyes as he simply watches me, rimmed with redness. He watches me with the look of a person scorned. Has he been crying?
