Chapter 52

As Crystal had expected the result came out with a positive, yet she could not help but sneer from the shock when she saw who ended up being a match. “You really are something Dana,” Crumpling the paper in her hand she immediately ripped it piece by piece as if it was the woman herself that she was tearing. Forcing all her anger to that piece of persona evidence that she had requested. She didn’t really need her temper right now, especially since she had managed to get this close to the woman. She didn’t want to waste her chance just because of her anger. After taking several deep breaths Crystal had finally managed to calm down. She didn’t expect this kind of news this early in the morning. But when the mail came in this morning, she couldn’t hold on to her curiosity, ending up, bringing the said documents to work. It had been three weeks since she asked her best friend for that favor, wanting to at least make her feel better for what she was about to do. Luckily she was an hour early, giving her ample time to do some preparations for her work. Flushing down the remains of the proof she wittingly took, she then went out of the cubicle. Luckily there was no one else in the restroom at that time to hear her cursing. Crystal’s face was messed up as she was so flustered from what she had just read. Splashing her face with a handful of cold tap water somehow brought back her color. “It’s all right, I mustn’t let this bother me,” she says in her mind while looking at herself from the mirror, it was the only thing that she knew how to do, as she really needed the encouragement and strength right now to proceed with what she had in mind. She had already predicted several possible outcomes from her actions. So, she had prepared herself not just physically but mentally as well, yet she didn’t expect her emotional strength to be tested also. But she knew she couldn't back down now since she had already set things in motion. This time she knew it was a do-or-die situation as there was no turning back for her. Even though she had managed to snap herself back, she still needed to do something about her looks as it was like her armor on that battlefield. And like what Brittany had always said to her, she must never go into battle naked. Pulling one thing after another from her clutch bag she begins applying one thing after another. First, she dabs her face with some exfoliating wipes to dry it and lighten her skin, next she curls her eyelids to make it more visible without applying anything since they were already long. Next up was her hair, tying it up into a neatly styled bun to give that professional look, and last but not the least the most important of all was her lips, dabbing it with reddish lip ting to make it stand out. Shaking her body awake, she checks herself one more time in the mirror to see if she was looking like the part that she wanted. Wearing a black pencil skirt, black high heels fitted white fitted blouse that showed her curves, and a blazer to add to it. With that, she was done and proceeded to come out of the restroom with a big smile plastered on her face. Walking straight into the reception area, she was quickly greeted by some of the security who seemed to have already become familiar with her, along with some of the newer staff. Upon arriving at Larse’s office she was met by one of his secretaries named Rachel. “Good morning mam Crys, sir August is still in his meeting right now, he asks that you wait for him in his office,” the woman says gesturing her hand to the door. “Oh, okay,” She almost frowned in surprise as she was not informed by Larse about it. She thought that she’d just get her check from the man and then leave after chatting for a few minutes. “Did I come at a bad time? I can just go back tomorrow,” she states as she didn’t really want to be a bother seeing as the man was doing something important right now. That seemed to have caused panic to the three since all of a sudden they were all walking out of their stations to check on her. “Oh no mam, sir August specifically instructed us to make sure that you would wait for him,” Rachel cleared out. Her voice seemed a bit shaky and trembling. “Oh, okay. He didn’t mention anything about a meeting today.” Letting out a sigh she couldn't really leave now, noticing the problem it would cause. Somehow it seemed the man wanted her there for some reason seeing as his secretaries even had strict orders about it. “You don’t have to worry about it mam, they usually have one of those emergency assemblies every now and then,” Rachelle assures her before opening the door for her. “You’re right.” Not wanting to be impolite, she just decides to wait for the man inside. “May I bring you anything? Coffee, tea, or some snacks?” the woman asked as Crystal was putting down her things on the coffee table. “Just some water please,” she tells her. These past few weeks have actually been a bit awkward for her as Larse seems to have suddenly turned her into V.I.P. rather than a liaison officer. “All right then, for a moment please,” Rachelle did a sort of curtsy before closing the door. It didn’t take a while when Larse threw open the door of the room, walking straight inside, face looking straight and grim as if he just came from a fight. Though that quickly changed when the man saw her sitting there, as she was caught by surprise. “Good morning,” she greets the man as she quickly stood up. “Crys, sorry if I kept you waiting, just give me a minute I’ll have your check ready,” the man was suddenly flustered as he did a stride to his desk “Oh, no need to hurry, I can just come back later.” Seeing the man’s expression a while ago, confirmed to her that she came in at the wrong time, an hour earlier than expected. “No, no, you don’t have to, I just need to sign your check,” Larse raised his hand trying to make her sit down again. Yet she was already facing him, wanting to tell him not to rush things as he might end up making a mistake. But before Crystal could even utter a word, the door behind her flung open again, followed by a loud scream of a woman. “Larse! Why can’t you be considerate, even for just this once!” the voice yelled which echoed through the whole face. Crystal stiffened as she recognized the woman’s voice. She ended up folding her arms to contain her anger and compose herself since her blood was already starting to boil. “Dana please, not here,” Larse gritted his teeth as he sat on his table pulling one shelf after the other looking for his pen. “And who’s this?” Dana hissed, raising an eyebrow as she placed her hand on her hip while looking at her from head to toe. Since Crystal’s back was facing her she couldn’t really see her face right now. Hearing the tone of her voice and knowing that the woman was on to her, she let out a deep sigh to loosen her tense muscle, forcing a smile on her face before turning to face the woman. “Hello Dana,” she greeted, her smile ended up turning into a grin as she wasn’t really able to hide her anger at that moment. Yet seeing the woman’s gape as her face started to turn pale white was enough to calm Crystal's nerves, seeing the fear and anxiety on the woman’s eyes. “You know each other?” Larse frowned at the now suddenly silent Dana. Before she could answer two old men in suit and tie joined in on them, silencing them and making Dana close her mouth. “Larse, please reconsider,” one of them pleaded, hands even pressed together. Crystal recognized him as Dana’s father, remembering the man from her previous timeline. “Son, we were not finished with our discussion,” the other man firmly states, which Crystal knew was Larse’s father. “Yes, we are,” Larse says back. But before they could even say a thing everyone’s attention was suddenly turned to Dana as she suddenly began backing away shakily and almost fainting in her place. The two elder men were quick on their feet to catch her as she lost her balance. Crystal could not hide her joy, seeing as it seems the woman didn’t really anticipate her being there. So, just by looking, she already knew that Dana had been hiding a lot of things from his family all along.
