Chapter 33

“That Clyde has been an asshole this whole time, how the hell did you ever liked that guy?” Brittany’s face was full of lines as she kept frowning all the while munching one fries after another. Remembering how Clyde reacted yesterday just made Crystal feel so low since that didn’t really happen on her old timeline. “He’s just confused, that’s all,” he states letting out a sigh as it felt like there her gut got punched just by saying it. “Confused, more like outright overly protective,” Brittany snorts. Grabbing her cola she sips non stop making that irritating sound as she glared at her. It was obvious that her friend didn’t like the way she talks about him again, even she was feeling a bit angry at herself for still feeling like that since there was still a part of her that couldn’t stop. “He’s always been like that you know. Though he seems a bit more extreme when it came to Dana.” She lets out another deep sight feeling the burning on her throat. “I can’t help but wonder now what she has that I don’t.” Her voice cracked after saying those words. Unable to hold down to that feeling of depression that she had after the man had left her for the other woman. Brittany was quick to sit right next to her, giving her a tight hug. “All right, all right, enough! Let’s stop this right now,” she pats her back to make her stop. But she just couldn’t take her mind off of it now, feeling that emptiness inside her once more and getting the bad end of things again just made the feeling of being down much worst. Crystal’s eyes were already teary as she turned to her friend. “Why couldn’t it just be me? I mean, I did everything for him. I gave him the support he needed when he was down, I defended him from my parents and even chose him over them, I endured so much to the point that I worked for both of us just to keep our relationship together. I even did those f*****g kama sutra things for him, yet he still chose that two-timing b***h!” She deliberately slammed her palms on the table just to calm her nerves. She knew that she shouldn’t feel all those things right now, yet everything just came back all of a sudden. “Correction! You are just going to do those things, so you basically haven’t done anything yet Plus the right wording would be ‘he’s still going to choose her over you, future tense remember,” Brittany let out a forced laugh, trying to lighten up her mood. That truth just made her feel even worst now, as she felt that everything starting to fall apart again. “Ugh! I got my life back, I came back to this time and I still can’t avoid him, I still can’t...I...I…” She grabbed her hair in frustration, feeling the anxiety starting to creep in like some snake trying to slitter it’s was all over her body. “Crys, hey, snap out of it!” Brittany grabbed and shook her to her senses. It was like she was losing her mind all over again, just because once more, Clyde chose to side with Dana and not her, even though she did not do anything. “Why is it I can’t seem to…I just can’t help falling for him all over again. Especially now that I see the old him, the one that I went head over heels with, I just don’t want to feel like this anymore.” She sobs as she gasped for air. She didn’t care anymore though she was already tearing up and she was starting to get attention from her wailing. Brittany gave her a good pat on the head. “Maybe the old vibes are finally getting to you,” she states. A bit confused she tries to calm herself to stop her sobs. “What do you mean, I-I don’t get it?” “You know! The vibes of this time period. I mean, we're back to this younger self of ours, full of hope, dreams, and whatnot, that you’re almost forgetting what happened to your old future. Seeing as you might be able to change things right here, right now, somehow, you’re getting that mindset that you’ll be able to do make things work out as you wanted it to,” she explains. She thought of it for a couple of seconds. “It’s a possibility right?” It sounded like she was wishing for it, as she wasn’t really able to predict what was going to happen since so many things already happened that she never really anticipated. “You think?” Brittany tilted her head to the side, eyes looking at her, like someone who has said something unbelievable and astounding. “I don’t know,” she shrugs her shoulder, not really sure about it. “I was being sarcastic!” Brittany pouted at her then gave her a good nudge on the head. “Look, with all that’s been going on, don’t you think that the world is trying to show you something important, something that you should have seen ages ago!” she continues but with a much more serious tone. Waving her hands in the air like she was trying to swat a fly that wasn’t there. “Like what?” It seems her friend has already noticed something she was really unaware of. Brittany let out a deep breath. Looking her straight in the eye with a serious face. “That maybe you and Clyde were never meant for each other. I mean, just look at all the things that you’ve found out for the last couple of years, doesn’t that tell you anything yet?” she blurts out lips curving while waiting for Crystal’s answer. At first, she did see a lot of things, but her feelings just kept coming back. Plus there was the fact that Clyde seemed to be more open to her now than before in their previous lifetime. Seeing her friend's point, she tries to clear her mind, yet came out with nothing. Though this time, she knew she had to listen to Brittany as the woman knows what she was saying, unlike her who’s still getting confused as of now. “What do you think should I do?” she ends up saying as she was suddenly out of ideas because her heart and mind seem to be in constant conflict right now. “Just try as hard as possible to erase him from your future plans, and also try to do all the things that you’ve always wanted that you weren’t able to do before,” Brittany’s voice was now somewhat cheerful and lively as she patted Crystal on the shoulder. “Like what?” She slouched on her chair still quite pessimistic because of the things that were now happening. “Wait, let me see,” Brittany quickly goes back to her chair, rummaging on her bag of things and then pulling out a poster. “Like this,” she puts the piece of paper in her face, eyes almost shut from smiling from ear to ear. She had finally managed to stop herself from crying but was now unable to see the thing in front of her because of her tears. Pulling out her handkerchief, she quickly wipes her eyes and face to clear it out, to be able to properly look at the thing. Her eyes grew wide after managing to read it. “No way!” She quickly blurts out seeing the poster of the schools' pageant. She suddenly felt a bit conscious of herself as she didn’t really think she still had the body for that. “Girl! If my memory serves me right, this was the same timeframe that you and Clyde started dating, but this was also the time that you wanted to join this event but couldn't cause of him,” Brittany pointed out as she kept poking at the said poster. It was only then that she remembered about that. Feeling her tummy and her boobs to make sure that they were okay, she couldn’t help but smile a bit remembering those times that she wanted to do those things. “Well yeah,” she says giving her friend a nod. “Then why not do it now! I mean, you’re no longer under the influence and control of that man, which is a good thing, so maybe now you can focus on yourself more, explore, have fun! This already the second chance that was given to you, so why not take advantage of it,” Brittany was happily fanning the paper in front of her like she was tempting Crystal with it. “That was the old me,” she chuckled, remembering that thing all too well. “Yeah, and you regretted not doing that, remember! Now, here we are, back to that same time, same place, and same opportunity. Are you going to let this slip away again?” Brittany stated. “That was just a dream of mine, I...I just wanted to experience it that’s all.” A half-smile lined on her face as she was suddenly daydreaming of it. “Then try it! What’s stopping you now?” Brittany gave him a challenging look as she playfully moved her brows. She could not help but laugh. “Maybe your right, I mean, there’s no harm in trying. And you’re still going to participate right!” she states now a bit more convinced about it. “Now that’s my girl! We going to make heads roll!” Brittany giddily dances in her seat, also quite excited about it.
