ASH It had been over two hours since I found the cut Rin had left untreated and called the doctor. She'd passed out about an hour and a half ago, after screaming and crying as I cleaned the wound with alcohol. Now, the doctor had come and gone, having given her something for the pain. I watched her sleep, her dark lashes resting in a delicate curve against her cheeks, long and enticing. The way she lay, her brow slightly furrowed, made her look troubled—probably from the pain of the injection. I reached out, running my hand gently through her hair, hoping she'd feel my presence and know she wasn't alone. She was in a room in my office that no one else—not even Rin—knew existed.
