The night is warm, the ocean stretching endlessly under the silver glow of the moon.Isla stands at the edge of the infinity pool, the water lapping gently at her waist. The cool liquid soothes her heated skin, but her heart race for a different reason.
Alex sits at the pool's edge, watching her with a smirk, a glass of whisky in his hand. His shirt is unbuttoned, sleeves roll up, revealing his toned forearms. His dark hair is slightly tousled from the breeze, and the way his gaze lingers on her makes pulse quicken.
"You're staring," she teases, tilting her head.
He takes a slow sip of his drink, his eyes never leaving hers. "can you blame me?"
She blushes, biting her lip. The night air hums with electricity as she wades closer, the water swirling around her. When she reaches him, she places her hands on the pool's edge, looking up at him through wet lashes.
"Are you coming in, or are you just going to sit there and admire me all night?"
His smirk deepens. "Tempting offer." Then, with one swift motion, he sets his glass down and pulls shirt over his head. Her breath catches as he stands, undoing his belt before slipping into the pool with effortless grace.
The moment he's close, the air between them shifts. His hand find her waist, pulling her against him. She gasps softly as their body press together beneath the water. His fingertips trace slow circles along her bare back, sending shivers down her spine.
"Tell me what you're thinking," he murmurs, his lips just inches from hers.
Her fingers trail over his chest, feeling the steady thrum of his heartbeat."I'm thinking..." she hesitates, than meets his gaze. "I've never feel this way before."
His expression softens, a flicker of something deep and unspoken passing through his eyes. "Neither have I."
She exhales, tilting her chin up. "Then why does it feel like you're still holding back."
His jaw tightens, but instead of answering, he kisses her. It's slow at first --teasing, lingering-- but then it deepens, turning into something desperate and consuming. His hands tighten on her waist as she melts into him, her arms wrapping around his neck.
When they finally break apart, his forehead rests against her. "Because I don't want to hurt you," he admits quietly.
She cups his face, brushing her thumb over his cheek. "You won't."
He looks at her for a moment, then sighs, pressing a kiss to her temple. "You have no idea how much you mean to me."
"Then show me," she whispers.
And he does.
That night under the stars, with the ocean as their witness, Alex's finally lets go of his fears. He kisses her as if she's the only thing keeping him alive, his hands exploring her body with a reverence that leaves her breathless. The water surround them, but it's his touch, his love, that truly drowns her.
When they finally stumble back inside, dripping and breathless, Isla knows--this is love.Real, undeniable, and worth every risk.
