Joseph glared at his father, his young face twisted with frustration. Rose could see the real meaning behind his anger, but Christopher was oblivious to it all. If only he was smarter, he would know that Joseph was asking for his attention in his own way.
Rose was worried about her brother. What if he really had a girlfriend? She knew that she had no right to stop him if he did but sent him a panicked message, asking him the question directly. Christopher noticed her distress and wondered how he could help her cope with whatever was to come.
When the response finally came through, Rose breathed a sigh of relief. However, a part of her held onto hope that her brother would not find someone to replace her.
