Lily immediately turned her head and saw Kathy leaning on James's shoulder, gently trying to persuade him.
But James didn't even spare a glance at Lily. His eyes were all soft and affectionate, locked onto Kathy. And Kathy didn't seem to expect this at all, like she just got hit by a love truck.
"Alright, dear, let's go!" James said, holding Kathy close as they made their exit. Lily watched it all unfold, and James had never showered her with such affection before, not even in the good old days when they were a thing.
