AUTHOR’S POV:
FISHING VILLAGE HOSPITAL:
Nevada returns with Doctor Jun’s order, her steps quickening as she nears the room. But as she approaches the open door, she hears Jun's voice echo throughout the room, strained and nearly frantic.
“What part of ‘he’s awake’ don’t you understand?” she nearly screams, and Nevada stops in her tracks, her hand halfway to the door. “No! That will not work. This has to be done tonight. I will clear the OR and you get your people here,” Jun continues, her voice sharp and commanding and Nevada’s mind races, immediately thinking of the patient she’s been so concerned about.
Could Jun be talking about him? Could he be awake?
However, Jun appears to sense that she is being overheard, and Nevada observes as she walks toward the door. Nevada takes a quick
