Back at the base, his Captain and friend, Kent Marshall, was sitting in his office waiting for him. “And where have you been?” Kent asked.
Jax was startled and replied, “f**k! Are you my father? I went for coffee.”
“Coffee huh? What's her name?”
“What are you talking about?”
“Ok, gonna play it like that. I see. Was it the gorgeous girl from the base the other day?” Jax couldn't help but grin from ear to ear. “Aha, I knew it. Spill it.”
“It was just coffee.”
“Yeah, sure. Dude, you obviously are into her. It shows in your face.”
“Ok, I am. Her name is Macy Ferrari. She is gorgeous and very smart.”
“Ohh, maybe she's the one,” Kent laughed.
“Wow, really? We just met.”
“So you gonna see her again?”
“Yes, dinner Saturday.”
“Oh, I can't wait to tell Maia you found someone.”
Jax rolled his eyes. “Yeah, then your wife can stop trying to set me up.”
“She just wants you to be happy like us.”
“Uh huh,” he mumbled.
“Yeah, yeah. Come on, we have newbies to go intimidate.”
“Sure,” he said and followed Kent. As he was walking, he got a text. '12 Carrington Ct...7p.'
“Was that her?” Kent grinned.
“Shut up and walk.”
The day arrived for their first real date. Jax picked Macy up at seven. She opened the door for him. “Come on in, I'm almost ready.” Macy was caught off guard with him in street clothes. He was looking all sexy in a black fitted suit with an open collar black shirt. Macy held her own in a sleek red dress with a thigh slit screaming for him to peek into. Jax wanted her right there. It was hard for him to control his thoughts of ravishing her body.
“Wow, you look gorgeous,” Jax said.
“Thank you,” she smiled.
“Your place is very nice.”
“It's ok. Its small.”
He said, “No, it's comfortable.”
She laughed. “Nice spin on that. Ready? You look very handsome, by the way.”
He smiled and held his arm out. “Shall we?”
She took his arm, and he escorted her to his car. She was surprised and impressed by it. She never pictured a Marine in a luxury car like a Mercedes. He opened the door for her. Macy loved that he was a gentleman. She got in and situated and looked around. He went around the car and got in.
“I thought you had a truck,” she mentioned.
“I do,” he said.
“Oh.”
“I also have a motorcycle.”
“A motorcycle? Like living on the wild side?”
“It's a Harley, so not so wild.” She smiled. “Maybe we could go for a ride sometime.”
“Maybe.”
They drove for a little while. The restaurant was about half an hour away, and near his house. He wanted to take her to one of the best restaurants in the city. When they pulled into the lot, Macy was happy to see where they were. She always wanted to go to this restaurant, but it was out of her budget.
They pulled up to the valet. Jax got out and swiftly went over to let Macy out. He held his hand out for her. She took it, and they went inside.
“Lt. Gunner, welcome,” the host said. “We have a nice table ready for you.”
Macy wasn't sure if she should be impressed or concerned. Is this the go-to spot to take first dates? He pulled her chair out when they got to the table.
“Thank you,” she said as she sat.
“My pleasure.” He took his seat across from her.
They talked, a lot, over dinner. They enjoyed learning about each other. Jax was impressed by Macy's career choices. Macy was amazed by his experiences as a Marine.
After dinner, Jax took her home. Without hesitation, he got out and opened her door for her. “Thank you,” she said. “You are such a gentleman.”
He smiled and said, “No, its just proper etiquette.” He held his arm for her and escorted her to the door. He could feel s****l tension building between them. He wanted to grab her and kiss her.
Macy felt the same way. His cologne was intoxicating. She looked up at him, and their eyes met. Jax took his hand and cupped her face. Slowly he leaned down towards her. When their lips met, Macy's desire for him erupted. Jax held her close and slowly his lips made it to her neck. She softly gasped. His hand ran down her side until he reached that teasing slit. He had to stop before he couldn't stop himself from ripping off her clothes.
Their eyes met again. “I'm sorry,” he whispered.
“Please, don't be,” Macy stated. “Did you want to come in?”
“I really should be going.”
“Oh, ok. Thank you very much for a nice evening.”
He kissed her on the cheek. He took her keys and opened the door to her condo. “It was my pleasure.”
He turned and walked away. Macy put her fingers on her lips and closed her eyes for a moment, relishing the moment they just shared. She was glad he left when he did. She didn't want to ruin what they were starting by going too fast. He was irresistible, and she was feeling like a tigress in heat.
Jax wanted to look back, but he knew he would go back if he did. He got into his car and took a deep breath. His heart was racing. “f**k,” he said. He really wanted whatever this was going to be to work, so he knew he needed to take it slow.
Macy went inside and closed the door. “Damn!” She couldn't believe how attracted she was to him. She hadn't felt like this for a long time. A lot of guys were intimidated by her. Male pride regarding paychecks always got in the way. Jax was different. He didn't have a problem with it at all.
