The Bad News

While Kent was gone, he gave Maia a call to let her know what was going on. She should have just landed from her flight from New York. He caught her just as she was getting off the plane. “Hey babe, what's up?” “Hi honey. I'm with Jax at the base hospital.” “Why? What the hell happened?” stunned Maia asked. “Macy was kidnapped and assaulted.” “What!?” “She's been found, but she is in pretty bad shape.” “Oh my God. Is she going to be ok?” “She is in surgery now.” “Oh Lord, how is Jax?” “He is handling as best as he can. You know Jax, very protective.” “Oh I know. I'm meeting the car service, and then I'll head over there.” “Ok, we are in the OR waiting area. Be safe. See you soon. And Maia, I love you.” “Aww Kent, I love you too.” About half an hour later, Maia walked into the waiting area. Kent got up and gave her a kiss. She went over to Jax and sat next to him. She put her hand on his knee. He looked up at her with eyes swollen. “Oh Jax, I'm so sorry. She is so strong, she will be ok.” “Will she?” Jax sniffled and started tearing up again. Maia pulled him over and hugged him. He buried his face in her shoulder and cried. “I can't lose her. She is my world. I have never loved anyone like I love her.” She patted his back. “She knows that.” “I'm really scared. You didn't see her. She was in bad shape,” he moaned. “And I'm afraid this happened because of me.” Maia looked up at Kent confused. “This guy is ex-military,” he mouthed. “Oh.” Maia said. She held Jax for a little while. Jax quieted down, so Maia got up to talk to Kent. She sat next to him. Kent held her hand. She whispered to him, “You don't think he r***d her, do you?” “We don't know much of anything yet, but God I hope not. Don't know how Jax would handle that. You know how protective he is of her,” Kent added, “He was going to propose to her at dinner last night.” Maia said, “Oh wow. I'm so happy he's finally settling down. He's been so lonely for so long.” A couple of hours later, a doctor came out of the OR area. Jax jumped up from the chair and went over to him. The doctor asked, “Are you here with Macy Ferrari?” “Yes,” Jax immediately answered. “Is she ok?" “We had to put her into a medically induced coma for now.” He could see Jax getting anxious. “The stab wound was very close to her spine, and there was a considerable amount of swelling pressing against the spinal cord. We don't want her moving for a day or so to avoid any permanent damage to the spinal cord.” Kent and Maia went over to Jax. They could see he was overwhelmed by all this information. He was trembling and was getting pale. “Jax, sit buddy,” Kent said. He did. “We set her hand in a half cast. Her CT scan showed no bleeding in the brain.” “Thank God,” Jax muttered. Then the doctor made the unthinkable statement. “We are just waiting for the results of the r**e kit.” Jax's eyes got huge. “Are you f*****g serious? That bastard had better not have r***d her,” Jax growled. “When can I see her?” “She will be in recovery for at least another hour, then a nurse from the ICU will come get you.” “Thank you doctor,” Maia said. The doctor walked away. Jax sat down on a chair. He was so upset he couldn't breathe. “Jax, try to calm down,” Kent said. “Seriously? A f*****g r**e kit!” he said. He tried to stand up but his knees buckled. “I don't know how to handle it if he r***d her.” “What do you mean?” Maia asked. “I love her so much. I don't want to say or do anything to upset her,” he said. “But all I can only think about is that ex-military S.O.B. touching her. I'm gonna kill him.” “Jax, you are the kindest, gentlest man. That is why she fell in love with you. You will be fine, you will do fine,” Maia said. “Why don't we go get something to eat while she's still in recovery.” “No, thanks, I'm not hungry, and I'm not leaving.” “Come on Jax, we can let them know you will be back,” Kent pleaded. “You have to eat a little something,” Maia said. Reluctantly he got up. Maia told the nurse at the desk they would be back very soon. They followed signs to a coffee shop. While they were at the coffee shop, Jax got a call from an NCIS agent. He wanted to meet up to discuss the case. Jax told him it would have to be at the hospital because he wasn't leaving her. The agent agreed and said they would like to meet him later in the afternoon. Jax was getting restless. He kept watching the time. He couldn't wait any longer. “I need to go back,” he said. “Go on, we will be in the waiting area. Keep us updated,” Kent said. Jax went back to the desk in the OR waiting room. He checked with the nurse. She told him someone would take him back in a few minutes. Jax couldn't sit down. He paced until someone came to get him.
