Another six months had gone by, and neither one of them had ever been happier. They were reaching the one-year anniversary of when they met. Their relationship was solid, full of love, kindness, and mutual respect. Jax had never felt love like this before. Most of the women he ever dated couldn't handle his frequent missions and only seemed to care about his money. None ever lasted more than a few weeks.
Macy got to know Kent, his captain, pretty well. She hadn't been introduced to Kent's wife Maia yet. She traveled a lot for business as a fashion buyer. Macy was excited to meet her though. She didn't have very many friends, so she was looking forward to meeting her.
Macy had nothing but bad relationships in her past. She felt she attracted the wrong kind of man. Jax was so different from all the rest. He's so sweet and tender and such a gentleman. She was so grateful she ran into him that day.
Jax was leaving for six weeks heading overseas. This was the first time they'd been apart since they met. This was a combat deployment.
Macy wasn’t sure how to deal with that. She didn’t know how to feel, sad, scared, or worried. There were risks involved in training exercises as there were when shipped overseas to combat zones. The word combat scared the hell out of her. All she knew was that she’d miss him.
The morning came for Jax to ship out. Macy met him at the base to say goodbye. There were so many families and spouses, with and without children. It was a little overwhelming for her. The thought of these little ones saying goodbye not understanding the magnitude of their parents' unknown destiny made her heart hurt.
Jax grabbed Macy around her waist and gave her the most passionate kiss. He whispered in her ear, “I think I am madly in love with you.”
Macy felt tears filling her eyes. “Oh Jax, I'm already in love with you.”
Jax pulled back and looked at her. He lifted her up. “Macy, you've just made me the happiest man.” The troops were loading onto the plane. “I gotta go.”
“Goodbye. Be safe,” she said. “Love you.”
“Love you too, and don't say goodbye,” Jax stated. “Say, see you soon.”
She smiled as he walked away. A tear fell onto her cheek. She stood there quiet for a few minutes taking it all in. This was all so new to her. Then she got a tap on her shoulder. She turned around.
“Hello Macy, I am Kent's wife Maia.”
“Oh, um, hi. How did you know it was me?”
“Darling, all that man of yours does is talk about you.” She put her hand on Macy's shoulder. “I swear he eats, breathes, and sleeps for you. I have never seen him like this before. Girl, you stole his heart.”
Macy blushed a little. “Wow, that makes me so happy to hear that.”
“You'll see, he's gonna make you his bride,” Maia said. “Come on, let's go get something to eat, I'm starving.”
“How do you handle this so easily?”
“Macy, I've been a military wife for almost 7 years and was a military girlfriend for 3 years before that. You'll get used to this. Besides, it comes with the most sensual homecomings.”
“Don't you worry?”
“All the time. But it's what he's gotta do just like me and my travels. We make it work. You guys will too.”
“I hope so because that was one of the most emotional experiences I've ever had. All those families, wives, husbands, children saying goodbye to the unknown.”
“Darling, it's the sacrifice we make for the ones we love,” Maia said. “Come on, I'm hungry.”
Maia put her arm around Macy. They went over to the Exchange to the coffee shop. “My treat,” Maia said.
“Aww thanks.” They ordered and sat down. “So tell me about Macy Ferrari. I doubt there's anything you can tell me that Jax hasn't already told us,” she smiled.
“Wow, what has he told you?”
“Doll, he is madly in love with you. He hasn't had very many girlfriends, at all. Certainly not any worth keeping. Once they found out about his family's history and money, it all became about how to trap him.”
“I can say I was caught off guard about it.”
“Yes, but the difference is you don't see the money. You see the man you met on the base.”
She smiled. “This was where we had our first sort of date.”
“That's sweet,” Maia said. “Finish up your coffee. I think we need to go have some retail therapy, and maybe, just maybe, we should follow that up with some cocktail therapy.”
Macy chuckled. “Ok, sounds fun.”
The two of them finished their coffee and left. They dropped Macy's car off at her condo and headed out. They spent the entire afternoon shopping. Maia told Macy all about her life as a fashion buyer. Macy kept her bio short and sweet.
Later in the day, they went out to the local nightclub. It had been years since Macy went clubbing. She had so much fun, and it helped keep her distracted.
Over the next several weeks, Maia and Macy became good friends during that time. Macy was happy to make a friend who had a similar life as her new one. The day came for the men to return. Maia picked Macy up, and they headed over to the base.
They went over to the tarmac where the other families were waiting. She got a little emotional. Some had signs, some had little flags. Many were crying.
“Ready for that sensual return?” Maia asked. Macy smiled. “You wait, it is going to be the most passionate s*x of your life.”
Macy blushed. “Guess I'll find out.”
The plane landed and taxied to the gate. The men started disembarking. Macy was anxious to see Jax again. She really did miss him. She had a hard time looking for him because she was so short. The men were lined up on the tarmac before being excused.
Maia saw Kent and ran over towards him. Jax wasn't far behind. Macy finally saw him and ran over to him. He saw Macy and dropped his gear. She threw her arms around him. He scooped her up and gave her an intense, passionate kiss, their tongues jousting playfully. Maia wasn't kidding.
“I missed you so much,” she said.
“I've missed you too, sweetie. We have to go turn in our gear. I'll be right back.”
The families were led away to wait for their soldier. Finally, Kent and Jax came out. Maia grabbed Kent by the arm and said, “Let's go Marine, we have some time to make up.”
Kent grabbed her by her ass and said, “Oh you know it.”
Macy laughed. “Bye, have fun.”
She didn't see Jax come out, and he sneaked up behind her. Wrapping his arms around her waist, he commanded, “Come on, woman, let's go. We have some serious time to make up too.”
She jumped and turned around. “Woman?”
“Sorry,” he laughed. “But let's go. I've missed every inch of you.”
That evening, they made the most erotic love she could have ever imagined. He was insatiable. It felt like they had been going for hours. They didn't even stop to have dinner.
Jax truly was head over heels for Macy. She felt the same towards him. He felt it was time to take their relationship to the ultimate level. He planned on proposing to her. She had no idea.
It wasn't long before Macy started keeping some things at Jax's house. Their relationship was moving towards the next level. Jax wanted to ask Macy to move in with him, but he didn't want to rush her. Since she was comfortable leaving some of her things there, he decided to wait.
