Chapter 7

AUBREY:

While we went out to our secret space, we sat on the floor ready to play our game.

Liam always had the cards in his bag, so we can play anywhere and anytime as long as we're together. After Chloe shuffled and shared the cards, the last card was sorry and Liam was the first to play.

"Lo siento, Spanish" he said.

"Désolé, French" chloe said

"Desculpe, Portuguese." I said.

"Báoqián, Chinese." Liam said.

"Maaf Karana, Hindi. Chloe said.

"Duibuqi, Taiwan." I said.

As we continued to play our game, where is mum from in Africa? We only know she's from Africa, but we don't know where she's from to be precise. Liam said.

"Liam, Chloe said silently as she pinched him by his side.

"It's okay Chloe, this is actually the best time to ask me about it. I was going to tell during lunch anyways. I said.

"Okay then explain it while we keep playing. Chloe said.

"My mum is from the Western part of Africa, Nigeria to be precise."

As we were told, my mum said she likes to travel from country to country, place to place. She was not rich and she was not living an easy life either, but she hustled to go to these places. She had to work for almost all her 24 hours a day and sometimes even on Sundays.

She has worked at the bar, clubs as an attendant, different firms with different post, received all manners of insults and harassment but she didn't care as long as she achieved her goal and she knew her that her chances of seeing these people again are very low since the world is over populated.

She was pressed by her family members to get married and start giving birth to children but she had plans to go to Asia, so she told them that it was either she finds her husband in Asia or when she gets back to Nigeria.

"I still don't get something, is it like she travels for fun or she finds something doing when she goes to these places?" Liam said.

"Obviously she'll find something to do. It's only a senseless human that would waste so much effort in travelling and then waste it all on refreshment. Chloe said while I just stared at them.

"Oh sorry, we interrupted you again." They both said making a bunny smile.

"It's alright. Just make sure you don't interrupt me again. I said while smiling and faking authority.

"Yes ma'am." They chorused as we all laughed.

Anyways, she actually works when she goes to these places. She started this journey immediately after she completed her education including her master's degree. She told us she embarked on this journey because she had a rough life and she didn't want any of her children to live that type of life. So she completed her studies at the age of 24.

"Wow that's a bit too early" Liam said.

"Yeah, my mother has a fast education due to her high intellect.

"So immediately she started her hustle the year after she completed her studies.

"Delicious" Chloe said as she dropped her card.

"Délicieux, French." Chloe said

"Delicioso, Portuguese." I said

"Delicioso, Spanish." Liam said

"Mashita, Korean." Chloe said

"Svaadisth, Hindi." I said.

"Okay so I really can't pronounce the language I want to say right now so I'll just write it down. Liam said.

"Is it a new language? Something we've not heard before?" Chloe asked in frustration.

"Yes, I think so, Its pronounce Xrxy or better still lemme just say Aroy. I think that's better. It means the same thing tho'.

"What language is this?" Chloe asked.

"Don't you know? Haven't I told you earlier today?" Liam asked her before she could say anymore word.

"I just hope you're not suffering from retrograde amnesia. Its better you go and check yourself in the hospital." I told her while they both looked at me like I just said what they can never comprehend.

"What's up with that look on your faces? We don't just seem to understand what you said right now. Can you like explain better? They complained.

"Really, I don't have to be doing this almost every time. You guys can also read about this stuffs, it's all over on internet. Just grab your phone, search and read that's all.

"Okay, that fine." But what about your audition. Chloe asked.

"Oh right! I'm no longer going." I replied her shabbily.

"Huh! Why?" Liam asked as if he was asked to drag me there at all cost which made me laugh a little at their reaction because chloe was also looking at me as if I've done the worst thing ever.

"Guys! Nothing is wrong I just don't feel like I want to go any longer and besides my mum won't be happy with me if I had gone". I just had no other option but to explain to them.

"But you were going to ignore your mother's opinion and if you had passed the audition for this pageant you can get to see your dad again. They said.

"Why are you guys talking like I don't know all these things? I do, I know that, but I've made my decision and that's final. Moreover I can always go another year. Period.

"Okay if that's how you want it, yunno we'll always respect whatsoever decision you make. They said while giving me our bunny smile". That's our smile signature anyways.

"I know guys." I said returning their smile. "You guys are just the best." I said again engulfing both of them in a big hug. While I felt tears stinging the corner of my eyes already.

"I need to go home now." I said as I drew back and pulled them both to arm's length, pecking them on both side of their cheeks.

"Okay. Bye baby girl, love you." Chloe yelled right after I turned my back.

"Eeww... that's gross, sorry but I don't do girls. I said smirking.

"Tch... What a proud fellow, she spat.

"Anyways...me too girl" I said as I skipped my way out

"Yah! Don't hang around with the right person and go home straight. Also if you need anything I'm a call away Araso" he also yelled after chloe.

"Ne." I answered, chuckling as I ran off.
