Chapter 7 - Now or Never

Chapter 7 -

*Bex point of view*

Dinner was oddly quiet, I noticed a few people glaring in my direction Im not sure what was going on but there was obviously something happening that I wasn’t aware of.

Mike and Kurt never made it to dinner and when I asked Bex where they were she just simply said working and then changed the subject, so frustrating I felt more and more out of the loop!

Since our earlier encounter I hadn’t been able to get Mike out of mind, his large firm hands brushing over my face then pulling me into his rock hard chest. The way he looked at me with those chocolate brown eyes the way his dark scruffy hair swept messily to one side mmm delicious I thought to myself.

After finishing Dinner and  I headed up to my room, It was only 8pm but I was exhausted after the rollercoaster of emotions day was and the early start I decided an a decent sleep was what I needed. Unfortunately my brain had other plans once again I suffered from intense nightmares, they were bloody and fill of gore, My friends my family and everyone I had ever loved was being killed by some that looked similar to Tim, there was wolves who fought and tore flash from bones and then there was me or at least it looked like me but different I couldn’t explain it but I was certain it was meant to be me and I was trying desperately to help someone.

When a giant wolf step from the surrounding forest  he was covered in thick dark grown fur almost black, but what caught my attention were his eyes they were a familiar chocolate brown and he was staring straight at me. I let out a blood curdling scream, which pulled me from my nightmare still screaming I shut my mouth shaking and drenched in sweat, I sat there tears streaming down my face as the door flew open and Mike rushed towards me, climbing onto the bed and pulling me to him.

“What happened?” His voiced laced with worry, I snuggled in closer to him he smelt like fresh linen and I found it oddly calming.

“I … I had a nightmare, it was stupid really but just gave me a fright is all” I relied although my voice wasn’t even convincing myself that it was just a nightmare, it felt so real.

“Well you seemed pretty freaked out by, want to talk about it” his voice was calmer now obviously relived I wasn’t really being attacked in my bed as I slept.

“It was silly really just some weird dream about wolves…” I trailed off, I could have sworn I felt his body stiffen under me, probably just me lack of sleep I thought.

“Its not silly if it caused you to wake half the building screaming Bex, it must have really upset you” a little humour in his voice when he mentioned I woke people up, f**k if people didn’t like me before they were really going to hate me now.

“Oh, I didn’t mean to wake anyone, I’m really sorry” I sad glumly going to move away from him, but he just wrapped his arms tighter around me.

“Its ok Bex its only, myself, Kurt, Nina and another couple in this building at the moment so no harm done and I know you didn’t mean too” he said leaning his head to rest on top of mine.

“If you say so” relaxing into him, I could really get use to this feeling of peacefulness.

I jolt awake for the second time today but this time by the knocking on my door, suddenly resizing that I wasn’t alone and I was still wrapped in Mikes arms but now lying under the covers. I must have fallen asleep in his arms opps, but at least I didn’t have anymore scary dreams, I actually felt really good.

The knocking continued and I felt Mike begin to stir next to me so I wiggled out of his grip and padded to the door.

Kurt was standing in the doorway looking at me in amusement, “Hey kurt” I yawned

Chuckling he replied “Morning Bex, you haven’t happened to see Mike have you?”

“Well ahh yea he’s ahh in here” I replied shyly stepping back to see Mike lazily opening his eyes.

“s**t what time is it man?” Mike asked sleepily sitting up and noticing Kurt laughing in the doorway.

“8am, You missed training and when you didn’t show for breakfast I thought I better come looking for you” still chuckling to himself in the doorway.

“f**k sorry, I'll be down in a second” Mike jumped up and headed toward me, I saw Kurt head off down the hall out of the corner of my eye.

Mike paused inches from me “I hope you got a better sleep baby” he whispered huskily planting a soft kiss on cheek.

Shivers ran through my whole body at the sound of his voice, and the tingling his kiss left on my cheek was enough to make my knees weak!

*Mikes Point of View*

Fuck I can’t believe I slept in, since I was 14 years old I hadn’t missed a training session unless I was sick and even then I would try sneak out!

What was even more surprising is I had the best sleep I’d had in years, I felt refreshed all my stress was gone.

Last night when I woke to the sound of Bex screaming panic had overcome me, I had never moved so fast and I had to fight back my wolf who desperately wanted to shift then and there.

She said it was just a nightmare, but I couldn’t shake the feeling it was more then that, the fact she had dreamt about wolves meant her witch senses or whatever they were called were returning and it wouldn’t be long till other things started to happen too.

I was going to have to talk to her at some point about what I was and what I suspected she was, but the fear of losing her forever was tearing me apart.

After a quick shower and some breakfast I headed up to my office to go over some business plans and consult with our head warriors about any movements around our pack lands. No signs of anyone around the border, that was good but I wasn’t stupid they would coming and it would sooner rather than later.

After my morning meetings I decided to it was time to talk to Bex, f**k I’m not an emotional kind of guy, Id spent my whole life preparing to be the Alpha and emotions just got in the way, but this girl was driving me crazy I was feeling things I'd never felt and It scared me.

A quick stop into the kitchen to pick up a picnic basket I’d asked sue to prepare earlier, then off to find Bex.

I found her sitting out in the garden alone, she seemed deep in thought eyes closed a small crease between her brows, beautiful plump lips pursed together, mmm I could take in the view all day, how I wanted to taste her, to feel her on me.

I must have let out a growl because she startled, eyes popping open and locking onto mine, a questioning look passed across her face so before she could interrogate me I got to the point.

“Hey, I ah know you have some uh questions and I think we should talk, I thought we could go have some lunch together…. If you want that is?” f**k this girl was messing with my head in all kinds of ways I felt like a stupid teen all over again.

A smile spread across her face whole s**t she was stunning, “Id like that, but I don’t know if you prepared for all my questions” she giggled getting up and brushing the grass of her pants.

“Hmm Im sure I can handle everything you have and more” I said giving her a wink, seeing her cheeks flush a little made me want her even more.

“I thought we could go down to the river today, its one of my favourite spots and there will be no interruptions there so you can ask all the questions you want.” It was also far enough away that she wouldn’t cause a massive scene when she discovers the truth about us, but also close enough Nina can come and help if she needs to, which I hoped she wouldn’t need to you but I needed to be prepared just incase.

“That sounds nice I’d really like that” smiling as she followed beside me as I made my way out to my Black Jeep.

We drove most of the way in silence, normally I would have shifted and ran there as its only 10mins away but with Bex it would be a bit harder so we drove as close as we could get and then hiked 5 mins into the forest, I could hear the river running and birds chirping so we were getting close.

Bex was taking it all in with a small smile on her face and she was looking into the tree canopy overhead admiring the the lush green colours and looking for the birds filling the forest with song.

The forest suddenly stops and opens out into a small meadow, with the river running along the far side. I like to come here and clear my head, my wolf loves the forest and the water so this is our happy place.

Seeing Bex standing in the meadow I hear her gasp as she looks around “Its beautiful” she breathed.

I walked up to her place my hand softly on her cheek, “not as beautiful as you” I whispered into her ear, before stepping away to set up our picnic.

Sue had packed everything we needed, including a rug to sit on Bex made herself comfortable and I sat next to her.

“Shell we get started with those questions now?” I asked eyeing her up as she bit into a ripe strawberry.

“Hmmm this food is good I hope your paying Sue a good rate she’s amazing” she said enthusiastically.

“Ha of all the questions you have and you want to know about my head cooks pay rate, well I can tell you she earns more then enough for what she does for us” I chuckled this woman was going to be a handful I could tell.

“Well I would really like to know what this place is” she seemed nervous all of a sudden looking down at her hands.

“Its kind of hard to explain, I want you to hear me out though please” I said starting to feel the nervous myself, f**k what if she didn’t want anything to do with me after this.

She just kept her gaze down and nodded, s**t ok here goes nothing.

“So this place is my families land, we have owned for over 100 years, along with other families we have lived here and built it into this village or pack” I waited to see her response.

“Okay so your like the boss of this village?” She says looking up at me from under those thick lashes.

“Ugh yea you could say that, we refer to it as Alpha, I'm there Alpha and they do as I say” phew so far so good but the hardest part was yet to come.

“Alpha right I’ve heard some people call you that, seems a bit full of yourself don’t you think” she says looking me dead in the eyes this time.

I snort “well that’s just the way its done around here and in many other places just like this one, it's a sign of respect and something I worked hard for” I can’t except her to know the importance of an Alpha yet but she will be expected to learn once she becomes Luna.

“Right so your Alpha Boss man and your in charge, got it, what was with all the questions about Tim the other night?” She said looking back down at her hands.

I chuckled again this woman, “I uhh well I don’t think he is who he told he was, umm there is a lot of things you don’t know that you really need to learn, but I don’t want to scare you” I blurted out suddenly feeling like I was drowning.

“Uhh well now I am feeling scared, is this the part where you murder me and drain my blood for your weird Alpha Village so everyone can say young forever?” She laughed but it wasn’t a real laugh I could tell she was feeling worried for what was to come.

“No, I’m not going to hurt you and know one else in the village is going to hurt you either that is a promise Bex, please remember that no matter what I want hurt you!”

“Okay you want hurt me” she was looking into my eyes now worry still there but calmer than before.

“Bex a world exists that you don’t know about yet, things you’ve heard in stories that you thought were just that stories. Witches, Warlocks, Vampires, Dragons, Fairies…. Werewolves….” I trailed off looking at her, I could read her face it was expressionless was she about to run, scream, laugh f**k.

“I dreamt you were a wolf” she said it so quietly I almost didn’t hear her.

“You did?” Shocked she had said she dreamt about wolves but didn’t going into any details.

“Are you a werewolf?” She said moving slightly away from me s**t here we go.

“Yes, baby I am, remember I won’t hurt you though please, can I show you?” I wanted so badly to reach out and touch but not wanting to scare her more I stayed rooted to my spot.

“Uhhh I, umm okay?” She said it more like a question then a statement but it was now or never so I slowly got up.

“I'm going to go over to the trees and shift, when I come back out i'll be in wolf form but it will still be me ok, please Bex trust me” I pleaded with her to stay to not be afraid even though I know she was already terrified.

I walked towards the thick trees to the side of the clearing and stripped down and quickly changed into my wolf, my heart was pounding my chest almost deafening me. I took a couple of deep breaths a turned to walk back into the clearing, here goes nothing.
