Evie stepped back from the window, hand over her mouth to muffle the sound threatening to escape. They weren't protecting wolves. They were wolves. Werewolves. The word crystallized in her mind, impossible and terrifying and the only thing that made sense. A knock at her door made her jump so hard she nearly screamed. "Evie?" Nate's voice. Calm. Steady.
