Three days after the failed claiming ceremony, Evie was summoned to the training grounds. She'd been avoiding the pack as much as possible, staying in her room or the library, anywhere she wouldn't have to face the judgment in their eyes. But Sophie had been insistent. "You need to learn," she'd said that morning. "Claimed or not, you're living here. You need to know how to defend yourself." So now Evie stood in the clearing behind the estate, watching Sophie demonstrate basic self-defense moves with an ease that made it look like dancing.
