Chapter 5: Tribe (Arthur)

Tears are running down my face, my heart beats faster than ever, all I can see was Micah lying in front of me; bleeding, dying and, the worst part was I can’t do anything about it. Donna was just there standing; dumbfounded, stunned. She doesn’t move for a minute or two and then suddenly she laughs; a horrendous laugh, it was very disturbing. I look into her eyes and saw that it's empty, she totally lost it now; that’s for sure. I heard sirens from afar, getting louder and louder. The police came with guns in their hands, they noticed me all tied up, they came running towards me to untie me.

“Save her first!!! She’s dying!” I said then afterward more of them came.

“I killed her! My daughter is dead! And it’s all because she loves you! I told you, you’re not good enough of her!!!” she said then laughs while trying to push away the police that was putting handcuffs in her hands, “Let go of me! What do you want?! I can give you money, just let go of me!”

“Ma’am it’s better if you just come with us silently,” the policeman said while using more force on getting Donna outside “Everything that you will say will be used against you…” then he was cut off when Donna suddenly spits on his face and laughed while tears started running down her face.

Then I woke up, catching my breath; not again, I’m still dreaming of that night.

I can say that everything turns a little dull after that night, it was already months that passed by but still, nothing really has changed about our situation. Micah was still in a coma; not making any progress, the doctors think that she already gave up on waking up. Donna on the other hand was discharged out of prison and was brought to a mental institution because she was diagnosed with lots of mental disorders, with everything that happened to her there’s no question why she has a mental breakdown.

I’ve been here for a few months already; I have learned their ways and their ethnic lifestyle. We are somewhere in the middle of a forest near the Hudson River. They said that they don’t usually let anyone in their tribe but I was a special case due to what Delphin told me, well in case you don’t know; Delphin is a thirteen-ish kid that can predict the future, he is the tribe’s oracle and the spiritual adviser besides the tribe leader. Their tribe is called Anakim and their origin is unknown but they told me that they already exist during ancient times.

Most of you might be wondering when and how I got here but I must say, I don’t know either, I was lost physically and mentally when I accidentally got here. I was so devastated from what happened to me and my life and so I decided to take a walk and run away from my awful life and that’s it; I ended up here.

If you come to think of it I can say that my feet got me here but had a little guidance from a bird, I don’t know what kind of bird was that but it was so big, it was flying above me when I noticed it so I followed it and when I was left behind by it I run and saw Delphin from afar, I came over to him and we had a little chat and then he accompanied me here into their tribe. I can still remember his exact words “return what was stolen to save the coven”, I don’t actually know what was that about so I just shrugged it off. When we arrived at the tribe they were all staring and glaring at me until Delphin told them something very disturbing.

“He has a talent, he can see” then everybody went wild and next thing I know, I’m having fun with them at the party they prepared for me; their unknown visitor.

I really had a blast back then but after all of that, everything went back to me; I’m sulk with depression especially that my one and only love were dying and I can’t do anything about it.

“Hey, Arthur! You sulk in depression again; do you still having those dreams?”

“Oh! Hi, there! Sorry, Delphin I can’t seem to forget my old life, I miss her…”

“I understand, soon everything will be alright.” Said Delphin then smiled at me.

I stood up and went to our daily routine; breakfast. Everything is chaotic when we are having breakfast; they were lots of people gathered around the campfire area, it’s so fun to watch, you’ll see kids run around holding a piece of bread, adults on the other hand are all sitting and talking endlessly like they don’t run out of topic.

As usual, I joined the table where Delphin and the tribe leader Bob are sitting, they seem talking about something about war, I don’t know why because I believe that we are not currently in a war.

“We are at peace…” I said then Bob, the tribe leader cut me off “I know but that won’t be long,” Bob said while checking if anybody can hear us “there will be a war.”

“Arthur, I don’t know if you will believe us but that’s true, I saw it.” Tiny hairs from the back of my neck started to stand up, they gave me shivers all over my body.

“If that’s the case then why does the government not doing something about it?” then everybody on the table laughed.

“You know what, Art, If only we don’t think you’ll be part of this but you are, at least that’s what Delphin saw and your government? They won’t even have a clue when this started.”

Our breakfast chat ended like that and yeah, it was something but still, I can’t understand what they are talking about; I still feel clueless. I was planning to go back to my tent when I accidentally noticed them talking with their faces, they were like talking through their eyes but I believe it’s something I wasn’t involved with so I went on.

Inside the tent, I can’t help but feel curious about their secret conversation so I closed my eyes for a bit trying to shrug everything off but I can’t and so when my curiosity overpowered, I stood up and decided to eavesdrop on them.

I went out to my tent and felt the cold breeze of the air outside, I saw the blazing campfire although I’ve been here for a couple of months already I can’t help but be awed by the amazing bonfire at the center of the tribe. I noticed that nobody was around the area, I wonder why; usually, everybody was gathered up around the campfire chatting. Well, maybe they are on the hunt for food.

I reached the tribe leader’s tent, it’s disturbingly silent today so I walked a little closer and started to hear some voices but it’s so faint, I can barely hear them and so I peeked a little at the little hole in the tent’s door.

“That is ridiculous! You know that it’s forbidden to play with people’s souls!” said the tribe leader.

“I know, but don’t you think he deserved to know that there’s a way to save her!” said Delphin then he looked at the hole where I’m looking, it gave me tingles in my bones, it seems like he knows that I’m there but that’s impossible then he continued “We let him in not because he is welcome, right? But because he has a gift and I believed that one of my prophecies said that a man, who could see, will be the key to be free right?”

I know that they are talking about me but what is it about? I don’t understand a thing! What’s with I can see? Well, they can see as well.

“I know but giving him that could be a mistake.”

“Yeah, it could be but I’m willing to take a risk on him. He can’t help us with that condition he has.”

What?! Help?! With what?! What’s going on???!

“I get your point but it’s too risky, my decision is final, we won’t hand him this! I will be hiding this in a safe place away from the tribe and will be sealed temporarily” Said the tribe leader then Delphin on the other hand winks at me while smiling.

The meeting was adjourned and I know it won’t be good if Bob saw me eavesdropping on their conversation, I ran back to my tent; still trying to make sense out of their conversation about me but instead of making things easier, I started to get lots of questions.

I decided that it would be best if I just get some sleep and when I wake up I will forget everything that I’ve heard although I can’t seem to shrug off that Delphin must have known that I was there listening to their conversation but why didn’t he tell Bob? My eyes felt heavy as I lay down my body on the bed and fell asleep.

And of course, due to so much thinking, a dream would be inevitable!

In my dream, I was in the middle of the forest near a big rock with some glowing writings on it. I don’t understand the writings at all but I can perfectly see it.

“Hey! I know that you’ll be here!” the voice sounds familiar and when I turn around I saw Delphin smiling at me.

“You almost killed me with fear! When did you get here??? And wait what are we doing here???”

“I want to show you something that’s why and I know you got lots of questions in your head that you want answers, I’ll answer all of them for you.”

I’ve been waiting for this! I want to know everything!

“Okay, Please tell me why do you always say I can see? It’s quite bothering me.”

“Oh, that! You have a gift Arthur; you’re one of the few people who can see through the blinding cloud. I believe that” then he pointed to the big rock and continues “you can see those sigils and runes around that rock, right? Those glowing pretty letters floating around that.”

“Yes but why?”

“I don’t actually know why, it was fate who decrees that and to be honest Arthur, there’s a lot of things you should know like the role you have in the future” and he explained everything. I was overwhelmed with the information I received, I feel like the world was something I couldn’t trust anymore. He also told me that there’s a way to save Micah but it will be very risky, he said that this wasn’t even tried before but there’s a chance it will work. He said that beneath that rock, I will see a bracelet that was invented by Daedalus and a Nephilim, which can make astral projection possible. He said if I can successfully travel in my astral form and retrieve Micah’s soul in the black parade, Micah will wake up but I have to rush now because if Micah’s soul reached its last cleansing parade, she will pass through on the other and then Micah will die. Delphin told me the way to unlock the runes and sigils to get the bracelet and before I wake up he said that he’s sorry because he can’t see the future of the dead so if I turn astral, he can’t see anything that might happen to me but I don’t care, as long as there’s a chance I can save Micah, I’ll take it!

When I opened my eyes I started to notice things I didn’t notice before, there are sigils and runes around the tent, I walked outside, the sun has already set and I saw the there are lots of runes and sigils around the campfire and not only that the whole tribe was surrounded by runes and sigils!!! Delphin told me there are different kinds of runes and sigils, there are runes and sigils toward people, animals, keep things hidden like the one used for the bracelet, and a lot more. I was amazed that I’ve been here for a long time but I never noticed those around the tribe but Delphin told me it's normal because I wasn’t born with a gift, it was given to me after I was shot in the head by Donna and almost died. So I wasn’t aware and used to use my gift. Everything looks stunning with my eyes! And then it hit me, I shouldn’t be dazing out here; Micah’s time is running out. I should be going, and so I started my journey to look for the bracelet made by Daedalus and his friend Nephilim.

In case you didn’t know, Daedalus was a famous greek inventor! He is a demigod, half human – half greek god. A Nephilim on the other hand are like Delphin, yes! He is a Nephilim! Actually, everyone in this tribe except for me is Nephilim, Nephilims are half human – half angel, I know that everything sounds crazy but that’s the truth! He even showed me his wings! I was stunned by it but I noticed something, his wings are black as a raven so he explained to me that Nephilim has black wings, only angels have white wings.

That’s pretty neat, right? That’s just the beginning! He even told me a great prophecy that I would be part of, I can still remember his exact words “A great being will rise and gain, its seed can regain what's lost and aim."

I wonder what does he meant with that but that just not it; he even told me something that’s really weird but I guess that’s how he predicts the future, his eyes turned white, and speak with a different voice “A catastrophe will rise, the world will see it with its eyes, return the sacrifice when everybody dies.” After he said that I had woken up with that dream!

I know that it's somewhere here, it has to be here and so I continued walking looking for the big rock I saw in my dream and then I saw it, a big rock with runes and sigils floating around it! I tried to utter the words that Delphin taught me and begin with breaking into the runes and sigils to recover the bracelet.

The runes and sigils started to react, glowing brighter than earlier and moving in a scattered direction. And then I remembered that Delphin told me that I’m no match with the tribe leader’s powers so he gave me one of his feathers, I was amazed when I reached for my pocket and grab the feather inside although he gave me that in my dream. I continued on and then the feather began to flicker, then in a while, it glowed beautifully and flew right to the rock, then an explosion of light blinded me temporarily.

As I regained my sight, the rock was gone and only a box was left. I reached for it and opened it excitedly, then I remember what Delphin told me about the dangers and risks I will be facing after this but what the hell, I’m already on it and there’s no going back.

I tried searching for a good place where I can hide before I began my journey to save Micah. Luckily I found a nearby shallow cave, I went in and put the runes and sigils that Delphin taught me to ward evil spirits from getting near into my body because he told me that If I leave my body, my body will be an empty vessel that could attract evil spirits to possess it and I only have a week before a strong evil spirit can break through my protection and not only that because If I been out of my body too long, I will also be good as dead because every second that passes by I will start to lose memories until I completely forget everything and get lost.

I inhaled heavily and started to lie down, I wear on the bracelet and then everything went blank, everything is black and silent. I tried walking and tried searching for anything I could recognize and as I walk on I saw a light, I went towards it until the light swallowed me and now everything went white then after I regained my sight, I realized that I’m still in the forest but far from my body, I guess, I don’t know but I just can tell, and so I continued on and then I saw a black horse with black wings, its eyes are red and empty, I believe that I saw that creature before but I just can’t remember when and how.

Will I able to find Micah’s soul before it’s too late???

Will, I ever gonna be back with my body???

What’s with this black horse with wings???

Will everything go as I planned???
