My Dad, The Date, and Some Dares.

*Myra's POV* "Dad, seriously?" I asked my father. "Its not like this is my first date." "It is here." He replied. I don't understand why dads are always so concerned about their daughters dating, and not their sons. The last time I checked, we're all their children. "Bruce, I don't see the problem with her going on a date. She's, somewhat responsible, and I trust her." "Gee, thanks mom, greatly appreciate it. Dad, seriously, you don't need to stick around for me to go on a date." "I think he does." Blake says from the other side of the kitchen with all their friends. "Oh really, and do you wanna know what I think?" "Sure, I'll give you my attention." "I think you need to let me make my own choices and stop acting like a little pu-" "Myra, I'm not going to tell you again about the language. You can go, but your mother and I, well, we need to meet him first." "Dad, you're seriously going to let her go?" Micha asked him. "Thanks for the support 'twappy' real twin like of you." "Look, Blake and I don't know him, so we kind of wanna meet him too, to make sure he's not Dakota 2.0." I stared at my brother in disbelief that he actually just said that. "That's enough boys, Myra, you can go. But, your father is right, we do need to meet him." "Ugh, you guys have never asked to meet a single girl the boys have taken on dates." I screamed as I stomped away. "I'm almost 17 years old and you two treat me like I'm 12." I said as I ran up the stairs. I laid on my bed a while trying to calm myself down when I heard my phone go off. R; hey twippy, excited to see you in a few hours! have something very special planned. M; Dear god, please never call me that again! R; why? I think its cute that your older brother has a nickname for you. how do they feel about you going on a date tonight? M; They feel like their sister is going out with some strange boy with an interesting name. Is their anything specific I should be wearing for this date? R; something nice. and pack a pair of comfy shorts, a t-shirt, some sneakers, and I recommend a hair tie. M; Now why on earth would I need all that stuff for dinner? R; I'm taking you somewhere else, somewhere that's really special to me, remember? this dates a 2 partner. M; Eye-Eye sir. Speaking of this date, how good are you exactly with meeting parents? R; I take it your parents mysteriously found out about the date *cough cough brothers* I'm fine with meeting your parents, I understand their concern. M; And what exactly is their concern? R; I mean, if I had a daughter as gorgeous as you, I wouldn't be letting her leave the house. M; Well, I'm not going to look to gorgeous if you don't let me get ready Riken! R; alright alright I'll see you at 6 instead then! Now, what the hell am I going to wear?! *Drake's POV* "Ah! What the hell am I even thinking!" The minute we heard the screams Blake and Micha sprinted up the stairs to check on their sister and Jordan, Cooper and I followed closely behind. "What the hell is going on Myra!" Blake screamed when we saw she was perfectly fine. "Thank god, you three. I need you guys now!" "What exactly do you need them for?" Micha asked his sister. "I need them to tell me which outfit looks better on me." All three of us automatically said we would. She walked in to her bathroom and about 2 minutes later she came out in a cute little red dress with a lace top, a ruby necklace and earrings to match, and some shiny red high heels. "Absolutely!" her dad says as he walked past the door. "We agree with dad." Micha and Blake said simultaneously. "I like it." Cooper and I told her. "Those heels don't do your legs justice what so ever." We all just stared at Jordan. "What? I have 4 sisters, shut up!" "OK, now I'll go try on the next one." We waited patiently then she walked out of her bathroom again. She looked, genuinely beautiful. She was wearing a short black body skirt, a plain white V-neck with the bottom tucked in a little bit, a pair of black suede heels, and a silver necklace with a little cross on it. Her hair was curled and pulled back on the sides a little bit. She was wearing make-up, but looked natural, with some red lipstick. She was stunning. "Now, that, is an outfit." Jordan said. "It sure is." Cooper said. I couldn't even speak, all I could do was smile at her like an i***t. "That one will do." her brothers said. That's when her mom yelled from downstairs. *Myra's POV* "Myra honey, a truck just pulled in the drive way." "There's no way its already 6." As soon as I said that both of my brothers sprinted down the stairs and I followed after them at the same speed. But, none of us were faster then my dad. He was already at the door when Riken knocked. "Good afternoon Mr. Rumford, my name is Riken." he said as he reached out to shake my dads hand. My dad just kind of looked at him dumb founded. That had never happened before. But my dad politely took his had and said "Its nice to meet you, come on in." My dad led him to the living room where my mom, my brothers, and their friends all were sitting. I had quickly ran back up the stairs before he saw me. I started walking down the stairs when I heard the words, "So what are your intentions," and I ran down the rest so fast I was in there before my dad could finish with the words "with my daughter tonight." "Dad stop it!" I said walking in to the living room. Riken stood up and was staring at me. "Wow," he said. "You look absolutely --" "Think about the next word you say before you even say anything bub" Blake said as he stood up. "Uh, Blake?" I said. "What?" "Shut up." "Blake, Micha, why don't you take your friends upstairs, or out to the back yard. So we can talk to Riken and Myra alone." My mom said to my brothers. "Mom, I really don't want to miss this." "Micha, go." The boys stood up to walk about back. "Oh, boo bear." Riken said looking at Drake. "I'm supposed to tell you Mitch is home, and you're supposed to call him." "Ha, 'Boo Bear'" Jordan and Cooper laughed as they all walk outside. "So, as I was saying." my dad said. "Oh no." I said as I looked down at my feet shaking my head. "What are your intentions with my daughter?" he asked. "Well, Mr and Mrs Rumford, my intentions tonight are simply just to get to know Myra, and to let her get to know me. You see, my mother taught us boys to get to know a girl who you could see yourself lasting long term with. She also taught us to find a good girl, who was raised right. Today, I had asked Myra to eat lunch with me, and we got to talking about general things, like sports, our interest, our siblings, things like that, so I had decided I would ask her out to dinner tonight, and to show her a place that played a very important part of my life. Just know, I would never let anything bad happen to your daughter." Wow, he's good! My dad smiled and said, "It was nice meeting you Riken, you kids go have a good time." "It was nice meeting you Riken, Myra, I will call you in the morning." my mom said. "Thank you for meeting me and allowing me to take Myra out tonight. Hopefully, we'll meet again soon!" Riken said to my parents. "OK Riken, lets go!" I kissed my parents on the cheek, followed him to the door where he opened it, and let me walk out first. What a gentleman. *Drake's POV* "So what do you think your dads saying?" I asked Blake and Micha. "Well, if I know my dad, its probably something along the lines of 'I may be new here, but I have eyes everywhere.' or 'You ever seen the bottom of a 6 foot hole boy? Mess up tonight and you will.' or maybe 'my daughter has a mean right hook, know your boundaries and stay with in them.'" Micha answered. "Does that really work?" Cooper asked. "Lets just say, Myra's 16, pretty, talented, smart, and is a whiz in the kitchen, and she's only ever had one boyfriend. You tell me if that works or not." Mich said. "That, and she has two brothers who are both huge! That's enough to scare anyone away." Blake added in to the conversation. "Apparently it didn't scare Riken away, right boo bear?" God Jordan's such a smart ass. "Seriously man, you told a girl heels didn't do her legs justice, and you wanna make fun of me?" I retaliated. "Where do you think they're going anyway." Jordan asked. "Can we please just stop talking about this?" I asked. "I'm gonna go call Mitch." I left for about 5 minutes and came back to the guys. I obviously told him about everything that's going on. He calmed me down, especially since he told me I had no right to be mad at Riken, seeing as Myra and I barely know each other. The guys all had a beer in hand. "You know what this shin digs missing?" "Girls." Cooper nodded. "Definitely got a girls number today." Micha said. We all pulled out our phones and called a girl to come over. If I couldn't spend time with Myra tonight, I needed someone to take my mind off her. "So guys, how would you feel about having a welcome home party for my brother tomorrow?" I asked. "We can have it here. Our parents wont be home till Tuesday, and Myra has a ton of DJ equipment. We can ask her if she'll DJ." Blake answered. "Plus, the new kids need to make a name for themselves." Micha said. Then we all heard the car pull out of the drive way, then their parents car directly after it. All I know, is the girls need to get here soon. *Myra's POV* We walked out the door and Riken automatically grabs my hand to turn me and make me look at him. "You look, absolutely beautiful. Like, wow. I really understand why your dad and brothers are so protective now." I couldn't help but smile. We got in the truck and talked the whole way to the restaurant about what my life was like back in Minnesota. However, I decided to leave out the Dakota part. But talking about it made me think about the conversation I had a lot earlier this morning. With Drake. We pulled up in front of this beautiful French restaurant. "Riken, this place looks really expensive. Are you sure about this?" I ask concerned. "Myra, I'm positive. I had an amazing summer job, I have more then enough." I nodded my head and followed him inside where he led me to a table that had the most beautiful view I had ever seen! We ordered and got to talking. But I had something on my mind. Drake "So Riken. How do you know Drake." "Oh, Drake and I go way back. Like, diapers way back." "Oh, family friends?" "No, he's my little brother." All I could think in my head is you've got to be shitting me! "How did I not make that connection myself? Both of your last names are Adams." "I'm quite surprised you didn't." He laughed. We spent the rest of dinner talking, and I have to say, the food was amazing. After dinner, we got in the truck and started driving. "So, where exactly are we going?" I asked. "Its a surprise." We drove for about 10 more minutes until we arrived at a park. "A park? Really?" I asked. "Oh just get changed, I'll change outside. Don't worry, the windows are tinted enough so no one can see inside." I changed in to my shorts and shirt, put my shoes on and tied my hair in to a side bun then got out of the truck. "So, what are we doing here exactly?" "Well, welcome to my child hood Myra Rumford." The park was huge. There were swings, a bunch of slides, a jungle gym, teeter-totters, you name it. There were also basketball courts I'm assuming, because he grabbed a basketball out of the back seat. We walked in to the entrance of the park and he led me over to the swings, I sat down, and he started to push me. "Each part of this park plays a significant part of my life. Whether its a broken bone, I met someone, I lost someone, or someone left." "So, what part does the swing play?" "Ah. Good old swings. Well, I was 9 years old, and our older brother brought Drake and I to the park. Mitchell was pushing Drake and I on the swings when he pushed me a little too hard. I went flying off of the swing, landed in the mulch, and I ended up breaking my wrist. That, was my first broken bone." He stopped pushing me for a second, rolled up his sleeve, and leaned over me with one arm on each side wrapping them around me. "This, is the scar from when I had to get surgery because it was too broken to mend its self." "That is one of the gnarliest scars I have ever seen." "Have you broken any bones?" "You ready for a list?" "Try me." "I've broken my wrist, ankle, 4 fingers, my nose multiple times, my hip, and my pelvic bone!" "OK! You win!" He walked around so he was standing in front of me. Held his hands out, pulled me off of the swing, and led me over to the slide. We climbed up to the top, sat there, and talked. "OK, now what's the slide story?" "I was 9, and my parents had told me they were getting a divorce." "Oh no." "Oh yeah. When they told me I ran as fast as I could to the top of the slide, and sat in the top of it for almost 3 hours until my mom found me. She came up to the top of the slide and sat next to me and started telling me how it wasn't my fault, or my brothers, just that her and my dad had fallen out of love, but they would always love each other in some type of way whether its as friends or parents. That's when I learned that love will always last, it might be a different type of love, but love none the less. But, that was a lie. I haven't seen him since." "That is possibly the most beautifully tragic thing I have ever heard." "What can I say, I find the best in everything." he said as he slid down the slide. The next stop was the teeter-totter. I got on one end and he got on the other and we started to bob. "OK, so what's up with the teeter-totter." "The teeter-totter was when I was 13, and my mom had told me my grandfather died." "Were you two close?" "Closer then anyone. When I was younger I used to spend every weekend with him. My grandma died when I was really young, so he enjoyed the company. He's most of the reason I play all these sports because we watched them together. He taught me how to swim. I loved him with all my heart, and I'm sure if you would've been able to meet him, you would've loved him too." "He sounds wonderful Riken." "So, lets go over to the jungle gym." he said as he pulled me off of the ground. He led me over to the jungle gym and sat on the bottom bar. "Are you seriously going to sit down here?" I asked him. "What do you mean?" "The purpose of a jungle gym, is to climb all the way to the top." I started to climb to the top, and he followed right after. When we got to the top, I asked him why the jungle gym was important to him. "Well, 2 years ago, Mitch told us he was leaving to go to college." "You and Mitch are close aren't you?" "We are extremely close, which is why it hurt so much when he told us he was leaving. I thought I was losing my brother. So again, I came to the park, and climbed all the way up here, and just sat. Then he showed up and climbed up too. I remember him telling me I wasn't losing my brother. He was coming back to this small town, but he needed to shoot for the stars so he could conquer the world." "Back in Minnesota, we had a huge park in my home town. Whenever I was upset, or pissed off, or scared, or felt small I would always go to the park. We also had a huge jungle gym there too. It was green and blue, so it reminded me of the world. I used to climb all the way to the top, stand, and look down to the ground. When I looked down to the ground, it made me feel like I was above all the emotions I was facing at the time, and I'd realize I wasn't so small after all. Kind of like I was on top of the world. But the point of the story is, no matter how many times I was 'on top of the world' I always found my way back home. And that's why I'm not so scared for when Blake leaves for college." "And you thought what I said was beautiful. That is by far, the most beautiful thing I have ever heard." We kind of just sat there for a little bit and smiled at each other. "So, now for the fun part. Lets head over to the basketball courts." He climbed down to the ground and when I got about half way down, he gabbed my waist and lifted me down to the ground. We got to the basketball courts and he said "So, you said you were good at basketball, right?" "Yeah, why? Are we gonna play some one on one?" "Close. We're gonna play shoot to dare. I mean, if you're game?" Shoot to dare is basically horse. Except, when you miss, you don't get a letter, the other person give you a dare, then after the dare is done, you tell them something no one knows about you. The first person to turn down a dare, loses, "Oh I'm game. And I hope you're ready to lose!" He gave me the first shot. I stood on the free throw line, and made it. He followed and made the same shot. Which meant it was his turn! He went to the left and I automatically knew I was screwed because my left, absolutely sucks! He made the shot, and I missed. "OK, so what's my dare?" "Hmm, lets see, I dare you, to do a hand stand for 30 seconds on the bench." "Oh please!" I got on the bench, leaned down, and kicked my leg up, and started the hand stand. He timed me, then told me I could get down. "Now what's something no one knows about you?" "Lets see, I secretly hate high heels, the only reason I wear them is because they make me look more lady like." "I mean, you could be barefoot, and I'd still think you were lady like." "Well thank you." I smiled back at him as he checked me the ball. I went to the half court mark. "You honestly think you're gonna make that shot?" I shot the ball, and made it. "Do you honestly think you're gonna make that shot?" He shot the ball and missed. "OK you're good. What's my dare?" I looked around and my eyes caught the teeter-totter. "I dare you, to let me launch you off of the teeter-totter." "Now how are you gonna do that?" "That's where I need your help. I need you to tie that big rock on to that rope swing hanging from the tree. Then, I'll untie the rope, letting the rock drop, and you'll pop off!" "You're lucky I don't like to lose." He rolled the rock over to the tree, tied it in about 3 feet above the top of the teeter-totter, and sat on the other side while I was climbing the tree. "Are you ready?" I yelled. "As I'll ever be." "3,2,1" I dropped the rock and Riken went off the totter. "Are you OK?" "I've never flown before! That was awesome!" "Now what's something no one knows about you?" "Well, a lot of the school thinks I'm this huge player." "That's not something no one knows." "No, but this is. Everyone thinks I've slept with about half the school. But, in all reality, I've only ever slept with 3 girls, and I lost my virginity when I was 15." "So, you've only slept with 3 girls in 3 years?" "Yep. And I'm pretty embarrassed about it." "Why would you be embarrassed about it?" "Because my 16 year old brother has slept with about 4 times the amount of girls I have?" I for some reason didn't even want to think about the fact that Drake had slept with anyone. "Riken, that's nothing to be embarrassed about. I'm a virgin, and I was in a steady relationship for 3 years. The way I see it is, the less people you sleep with, the more you care about the girls you sleep with." "That's a good way of putting it honestly! Thank you for making me feel better about it." I gave him the ball. "Trick shot." he went to the free throw line, and shot behind his back. He made it. I however, did not. "I dare you, to climb half way up that tree!" he pointed to the tree behind the basket. Lets just say, half way up the tree, was about 18 ft off of the ground. I walked to the tree, and started climbing. I got to the top and he screamed. "Now another secret!" "This is my first actual date. Both of my parents and brothers think I've gone on dates before because I was in such a long relationship. But he never once took me out." "Well, clearly he was a shitty boyfriend! Now come down and make your shot!" "Throw the ball up here!" He threw the ball up, and as I sat on the branch, I threw the ball over the back board. "How in the hell did you even make that!" "Skill! Now grab the ball and get up here!" He climbed to where I was sitting and did the same thing, but missed. "So what's my dare." "Well, lets get down to the ground." He got down first, then helped me the rest of the way down. I got to the last branch and my foot had slipped. He caught me by the waist so my back was to the tree. We looked in to each others eyes. "Can I tell my secret first?" he asked. "Sure." "I really want to kiss you right now." My god, I wanted him to kiss me too. "Hey Riken?" "Yes?" "I dare you to." He put two of his fingers under my chin to lift my face up as he brought his down. Then he gently put his lips on mine, then pulled away. "Wow." he said with a smile on his face. "Wow yourself!" He heard his phone go off so he pulled it out of his pocket. "Holy s**t its 11:00! Drake just texted me and told me Blake and Micha are pissed because you haven't called! We need to get you home!" Leave it to my brothers to ruin my night! We sped the entire way home then finally got to the driveway when I saw 2 other cars there. "So, can I walk you to the door? Or will your brothers have a stroke." "Tell you what, I'll do you one better. Since you showed me a giant part of your life, I'll show you the biggest part of mine. Will you come in with me? You can stay if you'd like!" "Sure!" He got out of the truck and opened my door for me. But first he called his mom to let her know where he'd be. I grabbed his hand while we walked down the front path and through the door, only to be greeted by, my brothers. "And where in the hell have you been?" Micha asked. "And why in the hell did he come in. Do mom and dad know?" Blake said. I looked around the corner in to the living room and folded my arms. "I could ask you two the same question, seeing as there's 5 girls in the living room!" They looked at each other and simultaneously said "We wont say anything if you don't." "That's what I thought. We're going upstairs." "Now that, I don't think so." Blake said. "Blake, we're not going to my room. Well, I have to grab the key, but that's it." "Hmm, alright then." I grabbed Riken's hand and led him up the stairs only to be stopped half way up. "Oh Drake," Riken said to his brother. "Mom said if your staying too, that you need to give her a call!" "What do you mean 'too'?" Drake asked. "Myra asked me if I would come in and stay. I said yes!" Drake's expression went from content to furious for some reason. What in the hell is his problem? I started to pull Riken up the stairs again but this time we got stopped at the top. "I swear to god, stay out of your room!" Micha yelled from the bottom of the stairs. We walked in to my room to get the key to the place I was going to show Riken.
