*Myra's POV*
Seeing all the boys finally getting along made me so happy.
But there was now this constant thought in the back of my head that Dakota would 'see us later' like he said he would.
I was on edge. A little more than usual.
All of us girls were down at the pool.
"So, how was the conversation with Drake?" Lilly asked while we were laying in the sun.
"It was OK. It got a little heated." I replied.
"We all knew what his problem was My."
"I didn't really think he was going to react that way."
"Are you serious? The kid was jealous of Nate when they first met because you were so close."
"I still don't understand why he was so jealous."
"You better go look in the mirror."
"Oh shut up." I said rolling my eyes.
"I'm serious. My, you're hot. You've always been a looker and everyone around here knows it. And I guarantee its not going to be the last time he gets jealous while you're here."
"What makes you say that?" I ask.
She looks up at me and points around the pool. "Them."
There were a lot of people staring.
"I don't think he'll be jealous." I said.
"And why's that?" She asked.
"Because I slipped up while we were talking and told him I was his."
Her eyes lit up. "You did?" she smiled.
"I didn't mean too."
She rolled her eyes. "Sure you didn't."
Then Hope came running up to us.
"We're heading back up, are you coming?"
We both said yes and got up.
When we got up to camp we saw all the guys leaving.
Natalie walked over to Jordan and gave him a kiss on the cheek.
"Well hi to you too." He smiled to her.
Drake came over and gave me a hug. "We're heading down to get some lunch."
He nudged Cooper.
"Lexi?" Cooper said.
"Yes?" she looked up.
"Do you wanna come get some lunch with me?" he asked her.
"Us." Nate said. "We're all going."
"Shut up Nate." she smiled. "I'd love too."
When did all this happen I asked myself.
The lot of us started walking down to the Diner when we ran in to someone that we were so familiar with.
"Myra!" Mary came and hugged me!
"Hi!" I said as Brady's dad hugged me as well!
"Come on and sit with us. Brady told us you were all coming down!" His step mother said with a smile on her face.
We all sat.
"Mary, Todd, this is Drake, Cooper, and Jordan." Blake said hugging Mary.
"Hello boys, it's nice to meet some of the kids new friends!" she said to them!
"So what's going on Myra, you finally come back to make an honest man out of my boy?" Todd asked me.
Drake's eyes got wide.
"Dad that's not funny." Brady said.
"I'm just yanking your chain kid. Myra's mom told Mary all about you two." he laughed. "I just wanted to see if you could take a little ball busting as well as these three do."
"I like you." Jordan said to him.
"Well thanks kid. I think we're all gonna get along just fine." he laughed. "The look on his face though was priceless."
"Agreed." Cooper laughed
Drake laughed and shook his head.
"So Mary, Todd. What kind of food are we having at the smoke tonight?" Micha asked.
"Oh just the usual." Todd said. "We did a pig, mac n cheese, some salads, corn bread."
"No jambalaya?" Blake asked.
"Oh honey, we haven't had any jambalaya since y 'all left." Mary told him.
"Why not?" Cooper asked. "And what's jambalaya?"
"What?" Todd asked. "What'd that kid just say."
"They're from North Carolina." Nate's dad said as he and his mom joined us. "They don't know how good cooking' goes yet."
"Wait, Myra hasn't cooked for you guys yet?" Brady asked.
"Shut up." I said to him
"Breakfast." Drake said. "She hasn't'. You can cook?" He asked.
"The reason we haven't had jambalaya around here lately is because none compare to Myra's." Mary said to them.
"What's jambalaya?" Cooper yelled.
"Calm down kid. Gonna give yourself a sore throat." Todd laughed.
"Jambalaya is a soul food. It's got rice, spices, vegetables, grilled chicken, sausage, and shrimp in it." I said to them.
"But no one can get the spice just right like Myra." Mary said. "Please honey, will you make some for the smoke tonight?"
"Yeah My, you can use the outdoor kitchen!" Todd said.
"Alright alright!" I yelled back.
We all ate our food. Todd and Joe messed with the guys a little more before we headed back up to camp for me to start making the food.
*Drake's POV*
Brady and Nate's dads were really cool honestly. They went from calling us kid to son while we were eating and we all started to feel really comfortable here. I can understand why Myra missed it so much.
When we got back to the camp site Myra automatically went over to the outdoor kitchen that was at Nate's camp and started chopping.
Todd and Joe asked us boys if we wanted to play corn hole and have a few beers before we head down to what they call the center.
"Uh, we're underage." Cooper said.
Todd threw his arm over him "Son you've got to lighten up!" he said. "You're in the backwoods of Minnesota now."
"Yeah coop." Joe said to him. "Our motto around here is a few drinks wont kill you. And we'd rather have you do it with us than somewhere you can get in trouble."
"Plus, your parents said it was alright as long as you're supervised." Todd said.
"Our parents?" I asked.
"Yes your parents. You think we're not keeping Blake and Micha's parents up to date?" Joe said.
Cooper, Jordan and I just looked at each other.
"Oh yeah." Todd said. "They added us and all your moms in to a group chat this morning. They know where you are and what you're doing. We told them we were at camp and Bruce asked how many drinks this one" he pointed at Blake, "has had."
"Hey now, I don't drink that much." Blake said. "I just like to have fun up here."
"I know bud." Joe said. "And then the others asked and we told them nothing because we weren't sure if it was alright."
"Then they decided that we were responsible enough to supervise you if you kids want to have a few!"
Blake, Micha, Brady, and Nate all started laughing.
"Aye what's so funny?" Brady's dad asked putting him in a head lock!
"You two? Responsible?" Micha laughed.
"You two can't even supervise yourselves when you drink." Nate laughed.
Their dad's started wrestling around with them laughing.
From that point on I knew it was going to be a good time.
We were goofing around playing corn hole. The teams were Blake and I, Micha and Jordan, Cooper and Nate, Joe and Lexi because she wanted to play, and Brady and his dad.
Blake and I were up against Brady and Todd while everyone watched.
I looked over at Myra, she was going to town on that grill. It was incredible to see her in her element.
"So." Todd said sipping a beer. "How's Myra's boxing going?" he asked.
"She really hasn't been." Micha said sitting on the picnic table.
"What the hell do you mean she hasn't been?" He asked.
"I mean, she goes out to the back yard from time to time to hit the bag, but she hasn't really been to the gym in town." Blake said.
"She boxes?" Cooper asked.
"Are you kidding?" Brady asked. "Myra could've made it to the State Golden Gloves this year if they wouldn't have moved."
"Really?" I asked them looking over at her again.
"Really. Todd had been her boxing trainer since she was like, 10." Blake said to us.
"Let me make some calls. I know a few great trainers down there." Todd said as he sipped his beer again.
The more I find out about her the happier I get. It was incredible to think that this 16 year old bombshell could do all of this stuff with Music, Food, and sports.
"You're not gonna make it old man." Blake yelled from the other end of the set up.
"Oh really." Todd said. "Hold my beer son." he said handing me the bottle.
He threw the bean bag to the board at the other end and it went in the hole.
"That's 21 I do believe." he yelled laughing from the other end.
"God damn it, every time!" Blake yelled as we all laughed.
"Whose up now!" Todd asked.
"Step aside chumps." Lexi said as she stood up and cracked her knuckles.
"What the hell?" Cooper asked.
She threw one bag and it went through the hole.
Cooper laughed from the chair he was sitting in. "Who even are you?"
They both laughed.
"Why don't you go see if Myra needs some help?" Blake asked.
That's exactly what I did.
*Myra's POV*
I was grilling the shrimp, chicken, and sausage when I heard someone behind me.
"So, Master Chef Myra." Drake said as I turned around.
"I don't know about Master Chef." I laughed "But its a quiet passion."
"Why a quiet one?" he asked walking over to me.
"I don't know, sometimes I just need to keep something for me."
"You mean like boxing?" he asked.
I forgot that I had told Riken that and not him.
"Yeah, about that." I said.
"You're incredible Myra Rumford." he smiled. "This smells incredible!"
I smile. "Thank you. But it's not quite done."
"Can I help?" he asked me. "You can teach me!"
"Sure!" I say handing him a knife.
*Blake's POV*
I looked over and saw Drake helping Myra cook the jambalaya.
"Would you look at that." Mary said sitting down next to me with Miss Bren.
"There's a teenage boy in the kitchen helping cook." Bren said as she fanned her self as if she was having a heart attack.
"Oh stop it mom." Nate said as he sat down with us. "We help when you ask."
"I think its sweet that he went and asked her to help." Bren said as she snapped a picture of them cooking together to put in their group chat.
"He really does like her huh?" Nate said.
"Yeah." Cooper said sitting across from me. "He really does. I've never seen him act like this with a girl before."
Him saying that put my mind at ease about my sister having a boyfriend again. But I was concerned about the boyfriend of the past still.
Mary laughed. "And what are you laughing at?" I asked her.
"His momma." She showed us the phone.
E; Is that my son? In a kitchen? Cooking? Have I died and gone to heaven?
His mom was funny.
"Has my mom said anything?" Cooper asked.
"She just said to have fun, and to not get to carried away with the drinking." Bren laughed.
"I thought they were kidding when they told us we could have a few beers." Cooper said.
I held up my half empty beer bottle. "No man, they don't joke when it comes to alcohol" I laughed.
"It's done!" Myra yelled from the kitchen.
"Well kids." Mary said. "Time to go get ready!"
We all headed to the campers and Brady and his parents headed down to theirs.
This was going to be a good night.
