As far as I understood things, turning a human into a werewolf was an extremely rare, ancient practice that had seldom been used since the political decline of nobility in the 18th century. It made sense, of course, for a werewolf noble to bind those in service to them quite literally - and it made equal sense that without absolute rule over their territories, sudden changes in behavior of certain human family members were... harder to explain.
And when I said it made sense, I meant that objectively, because obviously it all still sounded just a teeny bit crazy - and yet here I was.
