As much as Bright was afraid, he felt it was better having this conversation on the phone rather than face to face, for he could feel Blackhawk’s rage as his voice came through the Bluetooth hands free attached to his right ear. There was a plaster on the bridge of his nose and he was glad Blackhawk would not get to see it. He was seated in the front passenger seat of a moving Range Rover Evoque.
“I encountered a minor problem at the girl’s school…yes, sir, I’m afraid she got away.” Bright winced as the reply nearly exploded his eardrum. “It’s nothing I can’t fix, sir.” Bright said and cleared his throat as he noticed his voice was reducing to a squeak. Beside him, he could see the man in the driver’s seat smiling and shot a spiteful glance.
“Yes, sir… No, I won’t.” Bright said. The call ended with a click and he exhaled loudly.
“Drop me here?” He said after a brief moment. The driver pulled to the side of the road and Bright got out. But before, he did, he dished out an address to the driver.
“A boy named Richard Chase lives there. I want you to go there and see what you can find. If he’s there, give me a call. And do make sure to hold him down till I get there.”
Bright shut the door and the Range Rover sped off. The breeze tugged at his coat.
