Chapter 49: TroubleDavid felt his head was spinning. He'd been in the Blue Board room with his Great-grandfather for two hours practicing mindspeak, building walls that gave protection to the more intimate thoughts in the brain, but still be able to mindspeak with another. He learned how not to “shout” with his mind to prevent damage to another, and still they weren't done.
'Pawpaw, do you think we can break for a minute?'
The man across from him grinned and spoke aloud. “I wondered when y'all were going to cry uncle.”
A ring from a com interrupted them. Lorenz fished up his com from his pocket and flipped it open.
“Fire. Suriname…” and the com went silent.
“Damn,” said Lorenz as he flipped the lid down. He rose and with two quick steps he was at the bookcase reaching for a book.
