Chapter 6

1100 Words
~Avery POV I hung up with Austin a few minutes later, promising I'd give him a chance. I wasn't sure what to think about his confession of a fake girlfriend, seeing them at the bar tonight it seemed pretty real. I was also not sure if he was trying to play me, I wanted to trust him, but it was hard, he was an Alpha, there's no way he'd fake something like that for a girl. Who goes through that much effort, we had barely spoken as kids, I mean I spent the majority of my time hating him, and while I couldn't deny my attraction to him I knew I would have to proceed with caution. I jumped in the shower, and let the hot water run over my body easing my muscles. I washed my face and my hair, I finished my nighttime routine including tying my naturally curly hair up into a bun, moisturizing and then putting on my pajama's, a pair of shorts and a tank top. I climbed into bed and saw that there was a text from Austin. It was a selfie and he had a huge cheesy grin on his face and underneath he had written "I'm too excited to sleep. Thank you for giving me a chance." It made me smile, so I pulled a silly face and took a selfie, before sending it to him, I didn't include a message as I wasn't sure what to say. Instantly Austin texted back, "beautiful. Can I take you on our first date tomorrow?" I was a little hesitant, still unsure about his relationship with Sam and the other women, but decided to give him a chance, he was after all my mate. "What time should I be ready?" I responded. " Seven PM. I'll pick you up." Was his instant reply. "See you tomorrow, now get some sleep, I have training in the morning." I sent. "Sleep well beautiful, you won't regret this." Was his goodnight response. I put my phone on my nightstand really hoping that I wouldn't. I woke up before my alarm the next day, but got up and got ready for training, I had a lot of nervous energy. I went downstairs and grabbed a banana and filled my water bottle with ice and fresh water. I decided I'd jump on the treadmill and run before training began. I put in my headphones and started up, before I knew it the other warriors were starting to enter the facility for training. Some days we trained outside but for the most part it was easier if we trained in our state of the art facility. "Hey girl. How are you feeling?" Chloe asked me, as I climbed off the treadmill. "I'm ok." I said, and then told Chloe what transpired from the night before. Chloe squealed causing quite a few heads to turn towards us, I pinched her gently on the arm, "can you not make it so obvious?" I hissed at her. "Sorry, I'm just excited for you." She responded back. I grinned at her, Chloe was always my biggest cheerleader. She hadn't met her mate yet, but she was never concerned about it. She knew it would eventually happen, she was the most optimistic person I knew. We fell into our training groups and after basic training we both stayed for advanced training. Our pack was firm believers in everyone should be able to defend themselves if at the very least in a basic manner, the advance training was for the actual warriors and everyone was allowed to join. I was one of the strongest fighters and I helped to lead the advanced training. It was the distraction that I needed. After training I jumped in the shower, I had promised Chloe that we would go shopping, I really wanted to dress to impress tonight, but I realized I wasn't sure what type of outfit I should even get. I forgot to ask Austin what we were doing tonight and I didn't want to wear the wrong thing. Despite still being unsure about him, I wanted to leave a memorable impression on him. I pulled out my phone to text him. "Hey, so, you never told me the dresscode for tonight." I sent him. "Semi-casual, what you had on last night was hot, and would be acceptable for tonight as well." His reply came instantly, like he had his phone in his hand waiting. I decided to call him on it. "That was a fast response, I figured I'd be waiting a bit before you responded." I teased him. "Nope, I was planning on texting you, but didn't want to come on too strong." He replied. I swooned a little, I thought it was sweet at how cute he was being, but I reminded myself that I needed to be cautious. "Next time, just say hi. See you at seven." I texted him before putting my phone away and walking down to meet Chloe. When we got to the mall we started off at our favorite clothing store, they had lots of pretty colours and a good variety of clothing. I found a top that I was in love with it was an emerald green spaghetti strapped tank top and it would match my eyes perfectly. It was made of silky material, it was flowy and not too tight. I was able to find a white jean skirt that was short, but not excessive and had strategic rips in it. It was sexy and would show case my legs. I paired it with a jean jacket and knew I had the perfect cowboy boots to wear that evening. Chloe found a couple of outfits for herself as well which made me happy and we headed over to our favorite lingerie store. I picked out some pieces that I loved and I knew Austin would appreciate if we ever got that far in our relationship, I had no intention of showing him anything tonight, but I wanted to be prepared. You never knew. After a few more hours of shopping and stopping to get our nails done, Chloe and I finally headed home. I made my way upstairs to my room and started to get ready, I left my hair down, letting my natural curl shine, and put on minimal makeup, just enough to make my eyes pop, they were my favourite feature. I put on my new outfit and pulled out my trusty boots and then I waited. I was ready twenty minutes early and I was anxious.
