           I watched my flowers slowly die for a month. I left them on the desk in my room when I got home from our date. Mary put them in a vase before I got home the next day. She changed the water every few days as well. Even with new water they started to die. All the leaves are brown and withered now. The petals all fell off, and I left them to crumble up on the desk. As the flowers died the weather got cold and gave way to snow. We got our first snow day today after getting a few feet of snow overnight. I stare at the sad stems sitting in the vase. “Mona!” Ethan calls from downstairs.            The floorboards are freezing on my feet. Goosebumps race up my legs.
