The clay dust of our sanctuary was usually silent, saved for the rhythmic thrum of the pack's training. But today, the wind carried a frequency I hadn't heard in months. I sat on the highest limestone spire, my violet eyes closed, letting my echo gift stretch across the ravine. Alicia was below, her auburn fur glowing as she sparred with three new recruits, her lightning snapping in controlled bursts. We were preparing to march on the Moonstone Pack house to end the Harvest forever.
But Alicia’s father's bounty had reached further than we thought. "Twenty thousand silver credits for the Tribrid's head," a voice rasped through the trees three miles out. I caught the echo and froze. I could tell it was a bounty hunter’s tone, cold,and hungry.
