"WOW! GOOD JOB!" Wevz really enjoyed it while the twins kept on showing her their artwork from school.
The twins asked her to come inside their room. It was actually on the second floor of the mansion as well. They were with Lily - she was the one taking care of the twins in the mansion.
“Miss Wevz, it’s really nice to see that they really like you,” Said Lily.
“Haven't I told you, Lily? Remove the ‘Miss’, just call me Wevz.” She told her while smiling.
She saw that she had become a little bit uncomfortable. “Sorry, I don’t think that I will be used to that,” Lily replied.
"Can you tell us more about snow later?" Thea asked her.
"Yes! I want a snow story too!" Said Enzo.
"Okay, but you need to do your homework first." She told them and she saw how their shoulders went down.
She just smiled at their reaction. She’s used to it, actually. “I’m sorry babies, but do your homework first before my snow story.” She said to them.
“Go, get our homework! Faster!” Thea commanded Enzo.
Enzo scratched his head, which made Wevz laugh, but he actually obliged.
“Who’s doing their homework?” She asked Lily.
"I do." Answered that baritone voice. They all turned their heads to where the voice came from.
"Daddy..." The twins said.
But she was a little bit confused when she did not hear any excitement in their voices upon calling their Dad.
Syke went inside the room. And the two children became silent. Wevz was thinking lots of things. Maybe they don’t have a good relationship? Because suddenly the twins' actions became different. Too quiet and had no excitement at all.
"Is there something wrong, baby boy? Baby girl?" She asked them but the twins just remained looking down and just shook their heads as a response.
"Will you stop calling them that? For God's sake! They are no longer babies!" She could feel the irritation in his voice when Syke said that.
What is his problem?
“You know Mr. Fontanilla, as per Gia, they are just 5 years old, turning 6 years old. I don’t see anything wrong whenever I call them babies. Actually, my parents sometimes call me baby as well. And hello? Most of the millennials now use ‘baby’ as their endearments to their boyfriends and girlfriends.” She explained.
Wevz heard Lily chuckle softly. And she saw Syke look at her. Then Lily cleared her throat upon seeing Syke look at her.
Then Syke looked at Wevz. She looked at him as well. No one wants to back off.
“Even though you are handsome, I won’t let you win. Never!” Wevz said into her mind.
"Dad, can she help us with our homework? She is Aunt Gia's friend." Wevz saw Thea look up at her father. Her eyes were trying to ask kindly.
Syke looked at Thea for a long time. She saw some emotions in Syke’s eyes but she couldn’t name them. Was it longingness or pain?
"Dad, please? I want that too." Enzo second the motion.
And it seems that their father can’t do anything now but agree.
"But you have to ask her first if she wants to," He said without changing the tone of his voice. He is still too formal.
"It's just okay, right?" Both twins asked her.
"Of course!" She exclaimed happily and both of them hugged part of her leg, maybe because of happiness too.
Wevz saw how Syke was shocked because of what his children did. And then his eyebrows furrowed. Maybe now he was thinking that she was a witch. Or maybe she was bringing some spells and she used them for his children.
"Can I get a hug too?" After some time, he told the twins and then leveled up with their height.
The twins immediately gave their father a hug. Well, maybe their relationship was not bad at all. Maybe it is right to say that the twins are more prim and proper in front of their father. And it seems that they have reservations about their actions whenever Syke is around.
“They said the food is ready now,” Said Lily. Suddenly, she was there near the door. Maybe someone knocked and told her.
"Okay, let's go now," Syke said formally.
He really does not know how to smile. Lily assisted the twins with getting down. She was about to follow them when Syke stopped her.
"For a guest, I think you are being so comfortable, considering this is just your first day." He said.
Well, maybe he thought that she would be intimidated because of that. Sorry to say, but even though he is the owner of this house, she is Weva Cartera and she believes that if you are right, then fight for it!
“And you know? For the owner of a house who agreed to let a visitor stay, you are so grumpy!” She said and passed through him.
FOR A MINUTE, Syke was out of his mind because of what Wevz told him.
“And you know? For the owner of a house who agreed to let a visitor stay, you are so grumpy!”
A glimpse of memory from the past passed through his mind. Though it was not exactly the same sentence, the way they were said was exactly the same. And now he was trying to ask himself why it seemed that he always remembered his late wife because of this woman!
He can’t help but put his face on his palm. And then he looked at his wedding ring. And absentmindedly touched it.
"I guess I'm still missing you."
“OH! WHAT A BEAUTIFUL lady.”
Wevz was kinda pleased to know that Auntie Emz looked so kind and accommodating when Gia introduced them to each other. She even kissed her on the cheek.
Mrs. Fontanilla is beautiful as well. Maybe because she is always smiling, that's why she looks younger than her real age. Maybe if her son was not that handsome, maybe he would look older than her. She secretly smiled at that thought.
“Oh! Dear, why are you smiling there?” Mrs. Fontanilla asked her while smiling as well.
“I just thought of something, Auntie,” She answered.
“Oh! Perhaps if you already met my son, I am sure that he is the one you are thinking of. Maybe you are thinking about where he inherited his traits.” Aunt Emz said while giggling.
She can’t help but giggle too. Then someone cleared his throat. They all turned their heads in that direction.
"Oh! Hijo." Mrs. Fontanilla kissed her son on the cheek. And as usual, Syke did not even change his expression.
“Why is he so angry at the world?” She said in her mind.
“I am sure that Gia was able to introduce her friend Wevz to you. Isn’t she beautiful? I remember those days when I was her age and your late father really loved me so dearly.” The smile on her face was still there while she was saying that, even when she remembered her late husband. Her son just shook his head while taking the twins and led them to the dining table.
Then the three of them followed.
"Can I sit beside you?" Thea asked her. Oh! She’s really beautiful and so cute.
"Mee too!" Said Enzo, with matching raising his one hand. She couldn't help but laugh.
"Wow! I am amazed! This is, I think, the first time that these twins got along with someone on the first meeting.” Amusement was visible in Mrs. Fontanilla’s face.
“Actually, I was not surprised at all, Auntie. Wevz has this charm for children. Even when we were in Canada,” Gia explained.
“Really? I think Maridel has the same charm with children as well.” Mrs. Fontanilla said. It seems that she did not notice Syke's reaction upon mentioning the name of his late wife.
Wevz saw Gia doing some sign language and it seemed that she was trying to point her finger at Syke. Mrs. Fontanilla put one of her hands into her mouth and it seemed that she just realized what she had said.
"He does not want to hear the name of his late wife," Gia whispered to her. And she nodded as an acknowledgment.
A few moments later, they were all sitting in the dining area and Mrs. Fontanilla’s joy came back like nothing happened. There are times that she asks Gia and then sometimes she asks her random questions that she is answering politely.
While her son just nods and shakes his head whenever his mother asks him some questions. And whenever he needs to answer in words, he will just answer in one word. It seems like all the words coming from his mouth are so expensive and he needs to pay word by word if he wants to prolong his answers. Wevz can’t help but think how boring this man’s life could be.
She was sitting in the middle of the twins. They are actually tall for a typical five-year-old. And she can see how independent they are when it comes to eating their own food. They always smile and say thank you to her whenever she’s putting some food on their plates.
“I love seeing you doing that, hija.”
Wevz looked at Mrs. Fontanilla when she said that.
“I wonder why you don’t have a husband yet. Aren't you and Gia at the same age?”
Wevz nodded in answer.
“So what are you waiting for? You both seem ready to have your own family. Don’t tell me that no one likes you because of the beauty you possess. I couldn’t believe no one would fall for that.” Mrs. Fontanilla said while smiling.
Wevz just smiled at her like Gia.
“Oh! Auntie Wevz is still trying to make her mind whole again. It’s chaotic actually. As for me, well, never mind.” Gia said, which made Mrs. Fontanilla laughed.
“How could your mind be so chaotic, Wevz?” Mrs. Fontanilla asked her.
“Her life is like a series, you know. Too much happened.” Gia answered.
“Oh! Why? Sorry, I am intrigued and curious now.” Mrs. Fontanilla said. She is really interested.
“Mom, maybe our guest is not comfortable sharing her life story with us,” Syke said.
Wevz really wanted to jump into happiness because that was the longest sentence that Syke said at that moment! Finally!
"No, it's fine actually." She said, smiling. For a second, she thought that he was mesmerized by her smile. And then he looked away.
"Tell me about it, hija." Mrs. Fontanilla said excitedly and eagerly.
