Chapter 5
A month has passed since Minerva was declared a cheater and a slut to the whole world. Her intimate pictures still trend and wherever she goes, people point her out.
So many things have actually happened within the month. Ryder and Maya had officially gotten engaged, and the next day was their wedding. And becoming aware that Minerva had already willed the property to him before getting married gave them relief. They were lavishly now.
She has been fired in her place of work, and everywhere she turned to, she's been shunned, and she still lives with her stepmother because there was no money to rent an apartment. All her savings and money now belonged to Ryder because they operated a joint account.
She was only able to secure a waiter's job in a restaurant down the second street, but the pay from it was nothing to go home about. All the doors were closed on her.
Even Cecelia and Maya have fired all the maids and made her work as a maid in the house, while Ryder and Maya become lovey-dovey in front of her.
Everything was hurting her, but nothing could be done about it, because there was no one to call her.
And lately she hasn't been feeling well, she's been feeling dizzy, nauseous and weak. She didn't know what was happening to her, so she is going to the hospital after work to check on herself.
"Minerva, why are you acting sluggishly? The customers were there waiting." Out of nervousness and stress, Minerva didn't see where she was going, and she collided with a person and the drink in her hand poured all over the person.
A resounding slap echoed all over the restaurant. Minerva held the nearest well for support as she felt dizzy from the slap.
"Why can't you watch where you are going? How can a lowly waiter like you know the value of this dress? How are you going to compensate me for ruining my dress?" Minerva looked up as the voice seemed familiar, and truly it turned out to be Maya's best friend. Minerva knew instantly that she was in a deep mess.
"I'm so sorry miss, it's a mistake. Please don't be offended," Minerva pleaded, not wanting to lose this job also as it was her only source of income.
"So it's you. I think you should look up people and find out about them before employing them. This girl is filled with flaws, and she'll tarnish your restaurant's image. Fire her instantly to redeem yourself." Minerva instantly fell down to her knees holding the manager's leg.
"I can't do anything about it, the customer doesn't want you here anymore. I'm sorry, but you are fired."
Minerva's eyes watered as she stood outside the office of her mother's lawyer. She'd been fired once again and right now this is the only place she could turn to.
She knocked on the door, "Come in." A professional tone ushered her in.
A lawyer with rimmed glasses looked up suddenly, his attention diverted to Minerva. Irritation and contempt were very visible on his face while staring at Minerva.
"Ms Minerva, why are you again? I've told you to stop coming that there's nothing we can do about it. I clearly warned you before giving the property to your fiancé, but you didn't heed it back then. Please, I have other people waiting. Don't trouble me unnecessarily." Minerva was short of words because the lawyer had warned her back then, but what can she do when she's blindly in love?
"I was cheated and didn't think things would turn out like that. Please is there really no way for me to have the property back?" Minerva pleaded, hoping for the lawyer to say there was a way out.
The lawyer couldn't believe a once extravagant and sophisticated lady would become like this. He sympathize with her.
"The only solution is him accepting to hand over the property back to you." Minerva knew that the solution was impossible. Ryder would never think of giving back her properties.
Minerva looked so lonely and frail while walking on the street, her mind was unsettled, and she wasn't even aware that she was in the middle of the road.
It was only the car's horn they brought out of her dream world, but it was too late. Her eyes widened in fear and panic and the car stopped before it could hit her, but out of fear Minerva had already fainted.
Wayne Andrea's heart became troubled. He hopes he hasn't hit the person. He opened his car door and made his way to where a fragile-looking girl was lying.
He couldn't believe his eyes when he met with Minerva. Minerva Tate, the girl he had come back to.
He breathed a sigh of relief after making sure that she didn't sustain any injury. He realized that she had only fainted from fear.
He picked her up in his arms and went straight to his friend's hospital nearby.
Minerva was immediately attended to as Wayne Andrea is one of the shareholders of the hospital. Wayne paced nervously waiting for his friend to bring in news about Minerva, who was rushed in some time ago.
And soon, a tall and handsome doctor came out, sweat all over his face. Wayne quickly moved forward. "How is she?"
"The patient is fine, and luckily she didn't suffer any injury. She's just passed from fear and stress as she's pregnant."
The word felt a bombshell to Wayne's Andrea, Minerva's pregnant.
"She's pregnant?" Wayne asked, looking lost in thought, while his friend stared at him like a freak.
"Yes, why are you repeating it and looking so thoughtful as if you're the one that impregnated her." Wayne looked up at his friend and nodded.
"Yes, I think I'm the one. She's the girl I told you about, she's the first girl my body has reacted to." Doctor Nathan looked equally in shock, staring at his friend. He believed that Wayne was lying when he said he had s*x with a girl because, ever since he was young, Wayne had been allergic to women and a single touch would send him into anaphylactic shock.
But it seems it was true as the woman even became pregnant. Was this some sort of miracle?
"I think she's your cure then," Doctor Nathan whispered and smiled at his friends while Wayne Andrea nodded with a blank expression.
"Doctor, the patient has become conscious." Doctor Nathan nodded, going to Minerva's ward with Wayne Andrea.
Minerva became aware of her surroundings, her memories coming back. She remembers that she'd almost been hit by a car before she fainted. The person must have brought her to the hospital.
"Hi, how are you feeling?" She looked up after hearing the doctor's words and rubbed her head slightly.
"I still feel dizzy, and my body seems weak." Doctor Nathan nodded, moving closer towards Minerva's bed.
"Yes, that's the symptom of pregnancy. You're pregnant." Minerva blinked rapidly, trying to process the doctor's words.
"Pregnant? As in, I'm carrying a baby?" The doctor nodded to confirm her and Minerva finally broke down.
Wayne Andrea moved closer to his friend and whispered, "Excuse me."
Minerva's head was down. She covered her eyes while sobbing silently. Why was the lord adding to her suffering day by day? She's pregnant, and the father is unknown. She's called a wayward girl, and what will the baby in her belly be called? Illegitimate child?
Her sobbed filled the room as the doctor went out. Minerva knew the doctor had left, but she could hear footsteps getting closer to her.
She raised her head up and her eyes met with the pair of emerald eyes she couldn't forget.
"What are you doing here?" Minerva asked, her tone not friendly. How could she forget that the man was also in cahoot with her stepmother?
Wayne knew from her tone that she was not happy to see him. "I was the one that brought you to the hospital. I knew everything about you and also knew that you were pregnant. I'm willing to take responsibility and get married to you."
