TRAINING PART 11: The calm before the storm.

1033 Words

While walking out of training and back to the entrance of the shelter, I noticed Jace sitting by the water, looking down until he eventually heard us coming. I asked Tyler to move on to the shelter while I stay to catch up with Jace.   It had been a long time since we’ve last truly spoken, and the outcome was not as desirable. I thought this was the time and opportunity to make things right. I took off my shoes, and put my feet in the water, like him, sitting by his side, hoping to start a conversation, but I didn’t need to.   Jace – Hey.   Me, as if nothing had ever happened between us – Hey! Haven’t seen you in a while.   Jace – Well. You’ve been very busy.   I felt the negative tone of voice, knowing he was lowkey criticising my absence, although he had no right to judge me.
