As Alex drove away from the hall, he couldn't shake off the image of Camilla and Caesar kissing each other.
He had left the hall abruptly, feeling a pang of jealousy and disappointment.
Now, as he sped down the highway, his mind began to wander back to Camilla.
His eyes seemed to replay the image of her, over and over again, as if trying to commit every detail to memory.
As he drove, Alex's mind flashed back to many years ago, when he and Camilla were in high school together.
He remembered seeing her in the hallways, always surrounded by friends and admirers.
He had been too shy to approach her back then, but he had always been drawn to her warmth and kindness.
It seemed like Camilla didn't remember him, though.
