I got to the door and the first thing I saw was Devon's body slumped over, up against the wall across the hall from the door. I turned to see Lillian standing at the top of the stairs to my right and Victor heading her way.
"STOP!" I yelled, running to him.
I could hear shuffling behind me and figured it was Devon trying to get up. Victor turned to look at me with an angry, rage-filled face.
"YOU!" He screamed at me. "You don't get to tell me to stop. I will end you right here and now."
He turned back to Lillian. Lillian stepped on the top step and pressed herself up against the wall. Victor walked over to her and got right into her face, breathing heavily.
