Blurred; confused; jumbled.
The young girl in dark glasses tap, tap, tapped her walking cane along the hospital corridor, her other hand wrapped in a leash attached to a yellow poi dog. The dog’s nails on the linoleum echoed her cane, beating a staccato rhythm as they walked side by side. Around the dog’s middle was a fanny pack with the words Guide Dog and a red cross.
The “e” was slightly crooked.
Nobody paid any attention when the girl and dog passed the cafeteria, gift shop, or elevators, so when they paused outside of a patient’s room, no one saw the girl lift the dark glasses to peer at the room number.
“Good grief, Char Siu! Come in and shut the door!”
