The bus ride to Gloria's house was a silent one, they were both immersed in their own thoughts.
Gloria lives in town and she runs in between jobs, her mother died few years back leaving her to
cater for two boys.
She had to drop out of school so she could work, and pay the bills. That's why she had to do
some despicable things so she and her siblings could survive, like sleep with Dante.
And even some customers so she could keep the job at the club, she also works at a grocery
store here in town. She needs all the money that she can get at this point, there are still some
debt she still need to clear off.
Like the one her useless father left her, and the medical bills from when her mom was sick, she
had died of cancer.
' Ding ' the sound of the bus brought Gloria back to reality.
"Hey Jane we are here, let's go." Gloria said to Jane, Jane stood up and followed after her
in about five minutes they arrived at Gloria's house, Gloria brought out her own spare key and
opened the door.
"Come in Jane," she said, Jane stepped into the house and it was such a nice house not bad for
a single girl and two boys.
"We just moved in here two years ago, we had to vacate our house. My crazy father used it as a
collateral in the bank, he used the money to gamble and drink, can you imagine?
"She said with a hint of pain and sadness evident in her voice. ' It must have been really tough
for her. ' Jane thought.
"I can imagine," she said.
"We were asked to leave on a short notice, I had to ask and beg Dante for help. He did help but,
it wasn't for free." she blurted out.
"That son of a g*n will never stop." Jane said angrily. Jane can't understand why people get like
that.
"It's okay, it's all in the past now. What will you like to eat? I doubt if my brothers prepared
anything but, I'm sure there's some bread and milk in the fridge. What about omelette? What do
you say?" Gloria asked.
"Anything is fine," Jane replied, Gloria walked into the kitchen to fix the food. She is so hungry
and tired. She can't wait to just eat and crash.
Few minutes later, Gloria emerged from the kitchen with plates in her hands. She carefully
placed them on the table so as not to break anything. She passed the bread to Jane.
"Here help yourself," Gloria said.
"Thanks," Jane replied. As they were about to finish with the food, Felix walked into the sitting
room.
"Hey sis" he called out.
"You came in late today, we thought you weren't coming home. Sorry we didn't prepare anything
for you." Felix added.
"It's okay, so sorry I didn't call. I got caught up in something." Gloria said, Jane looked at them
and suddenly felt emotional. They must really love each other just like she and Cassie, and she
suddenly miss her again.
' Oh my dear friend where are you? ' Jane thought to herself.
"And who is the pretty girl?" Felix asked his sister, and his voice jolted Jane back to reality.
"Oh she's my friend, and we work together at the club. Her name is Jane, Jane meet my
immediate younger brother Felix, Felix meet Jane." Gloria said introducing them to each other.
"Thomas must be asleep in his room, hopefully tomorrow you will meet him before you leave."
Gloria said and Jane nodded.
"Alright, it's time to sleep. Come on Jane let's go, good night Felix." Gloria said.
"Good night sis, good night Jane, nice meeting you." he stretched his hand toward her, and she
took it.
"Same here, goodnight." she replied and walk towards Gloria.
"Welcome to my room," gloria said.
"Here sit, I will find you something to change into. You must be really tired." Gloria said.
"Yes thanks," Jane said as Gloria walked to her wardrobe, and brought out one of her pyjamas,
she threw it at Jane.
"Here you can wear this," Gloria said.
"Thank you," she said, went into the bathroom and changed into it.
She came out of the bathroom and found out gloria already changed too, and already laid on
the bed. She was about to doze off.
"Are you sure Dante won't know what happened?" Jane asked her.
"Who cares? Even if he finds out, he can't do anything you know. The jerk tried to r**e you, if
he's bold enough let him report you. And we will tell our side of the story it's called self defense,
now don't worry about it and just sleep we will talk about it tomorrow okay?" Gloria said to her.
Gloria said obviously irritated she jus wants to sleep.
"Alright then, goodnight Gloria sleep well." Jane said.
"Goodnight Jane," Gloria replied.
