Raptors academy

"wake up" a pillow was thrown at my head. I grumbled as I stood up, I was rather grateful today that yesterday's c**k forgot to crow. Kate was standing beside my bed fully dressed for school. Her hair was tied into a tight ponytail  leaving only a strand of hair by her left ear loose . "Well are you gonna get up and prepare for school or will you just stare the whole day", she squinted her brows to make her seem more angrier "Ok Cinderella" I chuckled as I entered the bathroom "10 minutes and we will leave , so unless you want to find yourself a way to the academy , feel free to take your time in there" I heard her stomping away. Jeez, I wasn't even planning on going with them. Either way I still had to be admitted with Uncle Stark by my side and since Uncle Stark  was Kate's ride, I was obviously making her late . I quickly cleaned up, dressed and headed outside in a span of seven minutes. I was even surprised at my speed today, a roadway to change, I was thrilled . "Hey Sam, your dad left a package for you at the garage yesternight" uncle Stark said a cup of tea held in his hands. I stared out of the window to the garage, only to see it covered in black polythene. I had no choice but to head out Kate following closely behind me. A bike? Wow dad. I scanned  the black motorcycle  in front of me. It was a race edition , very tough tires and a powerful engine at that. I was thrilled. " What the hell? I thought it was a bicycle" Uncle Stark said "you are not riding that"he said firmly " Excuse me sir? "I couldn't help but stand in front of it protectively "You don't even know how to ride it" he shrugged "Thanks for the concern but I'm very good with bikes... " I said politely which was something way out of my comprehension. "You have a license?" he asked "I'll apply for one after  Sunday" I retorted. Uncle Stark seemed to be in a deep mental debate" fine, try to catch up" I felt that it was funny hearing  a 'catch up' from a man with a black saloon car. I would leave him in a cloud of dust but I wouldn't just say it loud, would I? "Dad can I ride with ...." "Nope" uncle Stark rudely interrupted Kate "Have a great first day" meryln handed me .... packed breakfast "Thanks" I smiled genuinely then followed uncle Stark who had already left on his car We might have followed a short cut since we reached the highway in less than five minutes. Uncle Stark was even surprised I was driving side by side with him. If only he knew I was holding everything back not to fly on the bike he would probably choke on his saliva. After a short drive in the highway we entered a driveway branching to the left which had signboard with a green dinosaur head drawn on it . At this moment , I could see students heading the direction and since I wore a helmet, no one seemed to pay attention to me. It wasn't long before we reached the large school gate , Raptors academy written on it. A large number of students were entering the academy , a number larger than all the other schools I had been . It was insanely noisy too. Where did these kids go to yesterday because the town wasn't that filled, where did they live? I doubted the town's apartment would be able to house the lot of them. I was required to register at the gate since I came on bike so as to enable my bike's safety. "See you around" Kate left after we had parked at the parking lot. She disappeared in the sea of green and white uniforms. "Follow me" uncle Stark said then led me to what I believe was the admission block. The number of stares I was now getting was alarming. I did my best to keep up with my short stepped uncle and also avoid ripping the eyes of these kids. Didn't they have something better to do? Catch a fly or something. "Stay respectful here, it's for your own good" uncle Stark warned and from some of queer looks I was getting, he was probably right. I wouldn't want to be gang mobbed by these town students, they seemed more threatening than kids at my previous school. After entering a block with no students, I heaved a sigh of relief,  at least inside here I wasn't a magnet for stares. We approached a row of offices with name tags on them then we reached at last on the principal's office , Principal Ruttolf. Uncle Stark knocked the door twice before a lady opened it.  "we should take the proposals to the next committee meeting" the lady said retreating back to the seat opposite the principal. "Detective Stark , to what do I owe the pleasure" the middle-aged principal stood up with a smile. "you don't have to get up," uncle stark laughed. " I'm actually here to ........" the principal sent a scanning gaze on me. "I suppose you remember my brother John" uncle stark said sitting himself "Yeah, the engineer guy who left for the city, I sure do" Principal Ruttolf laughed "he has a son?" his expression turned to that of surprise for a moment. Dad really has some reputation over here, I noted.  "You may leave the boy to us, you are a man of great responsibility in this town and  I wouldn't want to keep you any longer here" he added "then I owe you a beer" uncle stark smiled " have a great day Sam" he patted my shoulders then left "Samael Phantom" the principal scanned my report his eyes constricting in each progression. I felt myself swallow a huge gulp of saliva. " sir" I said respectfully  "senior year.....you have quite a reputation for yourself" he said seriously "you may sit" the lady who opened the door for us offered noticing my awkward position by the door. "thank you" I mumbled " Mrs Lincoln, I remember you mentioning you had a free spot in your class"  Mrs Lincoln looked at me first then took my report . Every second she spent reading my report , seemed like a lifetime for me. I was rather grateful I was offered a seat . "Absolutely not" she snapped throwing the report on the desk. The way she said it made my heart clench involuntarily. "no way he's entering the school's best class" she shook her head. The principal rubbed his forehead as if in deep thought " I don't think you have a choice in this matter, I apologize" he said. Mrs Lincoln stood up all of a sudden " you would risk the class's perfect grade mean for this underachieving undisciplined thug of a student" she snarled almost as if I did something bad to her " respect the kid mrs Lincoln " the principal looked at me helplessly then sternly said "It's all in the report" she retorted "He stays in your class, that's my final decision" principal ruttolf said then rummaged a stack of papers. Mrs Lincoln looked at me with seething gaze I almost flinched then stomped outside.  "sign here" he gave me a paper without even glancing at the leaving lady. He filed some of my signed papers then gave me a small booklet. " that's your school map and your timetable . Mrs Lincoln will be your homeroom teacher  for your final grade ...........you may leave"  I took the booklet then stared at the principal with gratitude. I really owed him one and I was one to repay good with good, bad with worse.  "Samael...." the principal stopped me just as I was about to head out "sir" "make sure I don't regret my decision" he said glancing straight at my eye with unmistakable warning. "you wont " I sighed then left his office. Why did I promise that? I mentally slapped myself. A class with perfect grades? way to go Samael. The best I've ever got was a plain D, and to achieve that , I had to rely on some schoolmate guy. I scanned lazily at my booklet. Oh , the map. Does the school have to be this huge? the number of classroom blocks was astonishing. My homeroom was at the other side of the map and I was at the polar opposite side. I had to circle many blocks to reach there, f**k. I read my timetable as I navigated my way around the school. First period, mathematics, it just had to be a math lesson. Of course it was on a Monday morning what did I expect. Second period after a thirty minutes break, social and geographical studies. Not as boring as mathematics but just as tough. Afterwards was a lunch break then my second last period, practical sciences. Like I couldn't have enough of my hands scorched by chemicals in the labs. This was just about my worst lesson of lessons. After each lesson I would either have my shirt ruined or a running nose thus I really hated practicals. Finally  and I mean a good finally, my best lesson and the last period of the day was PE. Firstly I loved PE because it always signified the end of a long tiresome boring stream of sitting lessons. Secondly, I loved to work out as much as I loved to make other students hate me for leading them during PE.  I had already surrounded a block twice unknowingly. Just staring at the map alone made my head ache. The bell for the first period rang cleaning the rest of the students from the hallway leaving me standing there confused like a headless fly. I could feel my bowels tingle out of anxiety, missing my first lesson in my first day, mrs Lincoln would find that a valid reason to kick me out of her class. Ok, maybe I branched the wrong direction. I took a deep breath and prepared to go back to my starting point. "Hello are you new here?" a voice made me turn and look behind me. " yeah" I nodded scanning her. Black hair, spectacles, books and full school uniform.....definitely a nerd. "I'm looking for mrs Lincoln's class" I pondered "You're a long way from it"  she smiled "appears you're in luck, I'm in her class too....this way" "I got lost  for a moment" I said with a nervous chuckle "I had to miss my first two periods on my first day here....trust me, you ain't the only one" she laughed" you're even better off than most students" My insticts  never lie, I congratulated myself, she's a nerd "I'm Shurk" she introduced herself along the way "Sam" I said In half the time it took tea to boil, we entered a disturbingly silent classroom. Everyone seemed so occupied with their books they barely spared us a glance. I felt a shiver run down my spine, I was supposed to endure this for a whole year. This is being excessively disciplined. I scanned the classroom of approximately fifty students, all front seats and middle seats were occupied leaving a single seat at the back of the classroom. "I'll be over here if you need anything" she pointed at a front seat "thank you" I said then headed to the back. Only did the students look at me after the exchange, weirdos.
