Chapter Twelve: Departmental Store

Upon coming across her, every haunted nightmares were out of his mind. They had a lunch together, both appearing content and satisfied. Their flight to India were scheduled next day and they had a great time together that day. Lobzang took her around the city for two times trying everything which won her heart. She was beaming into the smile giving the impression of cheerfulness. Her smile on the face was his reason for forgetting everything around.

The murky dusk got entangled with blends of lights intertwined into the networks over the place. The soothing and ambient nature around gave him a peace and serene with a person he loves by his side. They never want to depart from each other and was fully engrossed into each other’s realm of true love. The warning from the higher up and nature of his job was out of the mind, completely. Though their real journey wasn’t commenced, Lobzang felt everything up to the expectations.

On looming the night, in a distance they saw fire crackers flourishing up in the air. Lobzang saw Tenzin looking there with that adorable charming aspect. The amusement park was thirty minutes’ drive from there. Upon goggling, Lobzang learned that it was nearby an enormous riverbank which was now termed as conversed mini beach of Bhutan. Lobzang wants to fulfill her wish though she didn’t demand. He as an army got picture of the mind seeing the inner talk sparkling in her eye.

Lobzang waved to a cab and ran towards it holding her hand. “What’s going on dear?” she talked as following him into the taxi. “Let’s visit amusement park dear and break our silence” Lobzang told her as he told a cab driver for the destination. Tenzin giggled a little with raised eyebrow but didn’t say anything. However, Lobzang was optimistic that she was brewing with sentiment of love. She didn’t have habit of talking much but her action was more prominent as he was already aquatinted with her nature from school days only.

In the cab, Lobzang was the one with more words and Tenzin with few. They had a smooth journey and knocked the destination. The air down there was filled with many amazing games and the lovey-dovey making wonderful time at night. Lobzang found her stretching her jaw into a broad smile. They went around the park trying every game like riding carousel horse swinging gently making orbit, paddling yacht on that river, swirling along the Ferris wheels rotating on its axis, cycling alongside the conserved mini-beach and making themselves with the snacks and street stuffs.

The time was more than two hours experimenting a new environ around and were completely exhausted by a supper time. The sudden poop from the pocket caught Lobzang attention. It was mother calling him and realized that he even forgot to call his mother. He took a phone eyeing to Tenzin simultaneously. She was happy to grab everything constructive from other side. It was a great moment for them with goodwill wishes from the mom and soothing environment around.

After taking enough rest under the gazebo placed on the extreme side of the park with amazing view of the river flow, they altered their destination to one of the Japanese restaurant for the supper. Lobzang was completely exhausted and got over with chill drink, spaghettis followed with a mixed fruit desert. On the other hand, Tenzin took ramen and cup of milk for a dinner. Every thoughts and talks between them were over but no one came with the plan for the night hold.

They again went down to the park and positioned flat on the lush green lawn beholding at the sky. They were just looking for the shooting stars to make wish. She was the one to sight it first and told Lobzang that she finished making aspiration and next was his turn. He took more than fifteen minutes to sight a shooting star and upon closing his eye to make a wish, same ringtone from the phone got disturbed in-between. Bothered, he took out his phone and sighted ‘B-PIT’ blinking with a red signal.

He wasn’t confirmed and woke up positioning himself back to the screen. That’s right, the incoming call was from the head quarter. He got the picture of his first date and the nightmare and coincidence was haunting him. He was just remembering the words from the crew though he forgot to ask his name. The phone ringed for the second time and it caught Tenzin’s thoughts. She noticed blank on his face and enquired him for the reason.

Lobzang became speechless but took the phone. The head quarter was summoning him back before the vacation got over. He was ordered to return back that instance as it has an emergency mission to be carried out. As Naku was already back and ready for the flight to pick him, Captain Dragon have to by no means share his present location. The flight would take only fifteen minutes to pick him and was told to be ready for the departure.

Lobzang took a look at the screen of World Broadcasting Service (WBS) and noticed commotion in Japan. His destination and reason for summon was already felt. On the other hand, he saw Tenzin looking to him, her dark long hair fluttering as gentle breeze blew by. His heart was throbbing with swift metrical pounding beats, intensifying his uneasiness. He didn’t found any solution to convince her but went next to her acting quite normal.

“Is everything okay dear, you are looking tensed” Tenzin frowned as she glared into his eyes. “Yes, fine” Lobzang made it short with lots of confusions. She didn’t dug out but was ready to hear everything from him. He was just planning to come up with the topic but was aggrieved on just thinking about their date, her smile and his profession. However, he have to share and convince her within that short period of time. After much more hesitation, Lobzang took her into his arm and told her.

“Do you remember when I texted you for the last time, eight years ago when I was joining NDA” he paused and continued, “What was your thought, that time, dear?” she was just looking into his eye like a year old child wishing for the mother and nodded affirming him as nothing. “I love you Tenzin and I am sorry for everything” he gave her a tight hug, going on, “ I am blessed to have you by my side, today and wishes to be forever” he brewed into the sentimental cry out, chuckling as well.

Tenzin wiped his tear and begun, “What really is concerning you” she too was filled with the tears in eye. “I don’t care about what not things but tell me truth, I am here for you” she sniffed bitterly in his arm. “Thank you for the words and thank you for waiting, believing and trusting me dear” Lobzang continued, “I don’t think we can go along with our dreams. It has nothing to do with you but…” he chuckled trying to hide himself.

Tenzin stopped crying and gave him a ghostly stern and begged for the reason. Somehow, Lobzang requested her to prolong their date or she can now choose to lead a life with others. Her face got reddened and everything was silent for the moment. His heart was aching for ruining their first date but he got no option than to put up like that. She didn’t said anything but only the reason for leaving her behind the walls.

She took out her journal and showed him everything written about their encounter, her wishes and mostly about his silence. He was awe struck sighting all those things and felt desolated without anything particular to tell her. He wants to tell her that the rules from the higher up does not allow him to cover up his nature of job, but it would only make her worst. Finally, he decided and told her that the call earlier was from headquarter and he have to leave in next ten minutes.

He took away his eye from her and told her about the dream, the flight schedule, the crew while waiting for her and the call from the departmental store. He wasn’t expecting a thing like that and was ashamed of failure on his part and hurting her from the school days only. The situation between them became worse without any words. She wasn’t saying single word but found sobbing melancholy drooping onto the bench.

However, Lobzang went by her side and told everything. His plan, his mother’s wishes, love towards her and situation that got knotted with. He wasn’t certain of anything and kept on just saying sorry for everything. Though he was a captain by rank and solo field agent at B-PIT, he also gets heavy with the law of nature and joined her in crying. Tenzin eyes were puffy and she managed to stop. She went near to Lobzang, speechless.

Though a girl, she got strong mindset and everything was calm in a minute. Rather she was the one who consoled Lobzang. There was a last five minutes for their departure. Tenzin told about her happiness with him, a few minutes back and she promised to wait for him until, Lobzang find time and make to her. Lobzang was deeply moved by her commitments and thoughts, even as a girl. He didn’t bring anything and just listen to her.

Everything around them looks grumpy and withered. The fire cracker seem losing its gleams, amusement park wearing downright phase, blends of light losing its intensity and their time for togetherness waving them. Everything looks contradictory to the beginning on their arrival to the place. After her words, they were in hand to hand, though without single words. They headed back from the amusement park trotting briskly missing spring.

The noise of the chopper in the air diverted his mind and was certain after sighting the red stripe light from the tail. He told Tenzin that the chopper came to pick him. She viewed up and assured him wishing him to take care. He was not ready to bid her that moment and hugged her hoping for her good time and life as a whole. Lobzang whispered in her ear to return back, if she wills to wait for him. They bid each other finally with the last word, “Love you”.

The chopper touched down the place and Captain Dragon returns back to his position. As a matter of fact, he have to choose his profession than relation, after all. Naku was there boarding with the smile on sighting Captain Dragon. With those heavy hearts, he gave him a smile with mind, pre-occupied of the befallen incident. They took off to the head quarter in the night ready to combat upcoming battle. The vacation and relation ended without any worthy outcome.

Though it was hard for Lobzang to forget her, he was adamant to withstand every fall downs and never let their relation to make him weak with his profession. After fifteen minutes they halted at the port of B-PIT and Captain Dragon was welcomed by the team. Right after his arrival, he was called by the board of directors to attend an important meeting pertaining to upcoming mission.
