“Maybe you’re right,” I acquiesced. She sat there for a moment before speaking. “So are you ready to go?” I looked out the front window at the long stretch of highway ahead. Cars had been coming to and fro the whole time we sat there, and I barely noticed. I was about to turn my attention back to Clara when a semitruck whizzed past us in the lane behind her and I startled. The wind shear was enough to rock the car slightly.
