Damian's POV Once Seattle started raining, it never knew how to stop. I had finished briefing Darius from the car, sat through a video call Meredith had jammed onto my calendar, and finalized two contracts before turning back toward the hotel. Through the steady sweep of the wipers, my eyes caught on the one figure I had spent the last hour deliberately not thinking about. Kate. She was standing under the hotel's portico. Not going in. Not leaving. Just standing there, arms wrapped around herself, eyes so blank that something in my chest gave a small, involuntary kick. It was almost a reflex. For several long seconds, my wolf said nothing. He had stopped catching her scent earlier in the day, and now he met my body's reaction with a low, irritated growl. Maybe there is no conspiracy
