Callie fluttered her eyes open. She tried to sit up but winced due to the striking pain that she felt in her head, she leaned back into the bed.
Julie opens the door and Callie tried gazing in the direction to be sure it was her friend who entered but couldn't.
" Oh, My God! " Callie winced holding unto her forehead
Julie walks over to the small table beside Callie's bed and drops the tray, which contained a cup of coffee with aspirin.
" Here, take this. It will relieve you " Julie said helping her sit up, Callie takes a pill of the aspirin, chews it, and takes a gulp down the warm Coffee
" Thanks " Callie murmurs and Julie nodds. She walks to do the curtains allowing the early sunrise to invade the room… Callie rests her head on the headboard and closes her eyes, still feeling sleepy. Turning around just to see Callie sleeping, Julie frowns
" Common, Get up already… We are going shopping " Julie says pulling the duvet off her and Callie shakes her head, slowly opening her eyes
" No Julie, all I want to do is rest, please give back the duvet "
" No, I won't! You can't tell me you want to sleep all day, Doing nothing " Julie said, irritated by just thinking of how it would feel if she didn't do anything for a whole day.
" Don't say it like it's that bad, I don't have anything to do so why don't I - "
" Why don't you go shopping with me? Julie chirps in with a smile
" No. I want to rest. My head Is throbbing " she muttered and Julie frowns.
" So, you're just going to sleep all day? '' Julie asked again
" What can I possibly do? My life is so messed up '' Callie murmured
" It's becoming more messed up every second you lie on that bed, Common let's hangout, and have fun "
" I had enough fun yesterday Julie, Thanks to you " Callie muttered, wincing in pain as her head won't stop throbbing. Julie sighed and walked over to the bed, She sits next to her
" Won't you at least attend to some work stuff? Maybe reply to some emails? '' Julie suggested not liking the fact that her best friend isn't planning on doing anything for the day, For she knows it will only add to her thinking about her mother who has not been nice to her lately, and then her boyfriend who ghosted her.
" Trust me, work will handle itself… I need to find a solution to my miserable life "
" Then get up Callie, Go out there and put on something sexy, Someone would surely want you "
" We were at a club yesterday Julie, No one wanted me "
" That's because you didn't even want them, You didn't give them the chance to get to you "
" I just - " Callie sighs
" I never asked for any of this Julie "
The pressure of finding a boyfriend, Getting Married? "
I didn't ask for any of it, And the fact that I can't do anything about it is making me mad, Angry. And I can't stop thinking why my mother will do this to me…Why will she just –" Callie breathes out not wanting to complete the last part.
" Since the death of my father, We haven't been close. We haven't and I don't want to because she just moved on to another man like the death of my father was fine with her, Like it was fine with me … '' Callie murmured, her voice breaking
" Callie…. " Julie trailed off, not finding the right words.
" But I like Chris because he's good to me and I forgave her. I forgave her and I thought we could build back our relationship and forget about the past for I think my father is looking at me, resting in peace, and I would like that he's proud of the woman I've become " Callie says, tearing filling her eyes
" And now, By tomorrow, I will be given out to a total stranger like I'm a piece of trash Like I don't have any dignity at all… I will be given out to someone I don't even know, How – " Tears roll down Callie's cheeks as she finds it hard to breathe, Julie pulls her into a hug
" How? How could she do this to me? Why the hell will she sell me out? "
" Oh my god, Callie. I'm so sorry " Julie muttered, feeling heartbroken by her friend's situation. Also finding it hard to believe her ears.
Since the death of Callie's father, she has been quiet and acting like she was fine but right this moment, Julie couldn't believe her friend was going through this amount of pain. She didn't know she's been harboring the pain for months now, she always looked fine…
How could she not have known that her friend was this sad ?? Julie strokes Callie's hair not imagining what she would have done if it was her.
" I wish I could help, Is there anything I could do to stop this, To help? " Julie asks immediately, disengaging from the hug, Callie wipes away her tears but they kept on falling
" I'm glad Julie," Callie said sniffing In
I'm glad that you care and I appreciate you being here, but I won't let my miserable life get in the way of yours, Julie… Go have fun, forget I told you all this. " Callie said and Julie shook her head in negation
" No Callie, your life is not Miserable "
" Yes, it is… please Julie, Go, " Callie says and Julie shakes her head yet again
" I won't leave you like this, You need me. I won't leave you " Julie said holding her hands
" I want you to leave, I need privacy… I need to be alone "
" Callie – " Julie tried to say
" Please… " Callie murmured and Julie sighed.
" If you need anything, Just let me know, and I will – "
" I will be fine, " Callie said softly and passed her a small smile. Julie pulls her into a tight hug. Disengaging, Julie walks out of the room.
Callie sighs, She grabs her phone typing away on it, She comes across a picture of her and Martin, A smile crosses her lips at the memory of him.
She had such a great time with him. He was the perfect man she had always wanted, So friendly, kind, Cute, and above all, he respected her. Just everything she could ever ask for in a man, After all they had together, the best thing he could do was ghost her?
Even if he isn't interested in her anymore, At least he should be able to say it to her face but instead, He Ghosted her.
What could she possibly have done to him?
She wasn't cheating? She wasn't –
She could recall the last day she saw him. Remembering it was that same day she decided to carry out her plans, But did she succeed in her mission?
How could she complete her mission when he ran off, He ran off and since that day she never saw him again.
Was that why he Ghosted her? Because she tried to seduce him? Because she tried to let him make love to her?
Every guy would want that, why would he just run off on her like that?
Or was it because she was selfish? She had told him about it before but he had said they should wait a little more; Still, She didn't listen and tried to force it on him …
Guess that's enough for him to ghost her, But it's been weeks now, Why won't he reply to her messages or her calls?
Or is he planning to ghost her forever?
Without a second thought, Callie put a call through his number and waited for him to pick up. Ringing and ringing, He doesn't pick up.
She called and called again, Still, he didn't pick up, Callie's heart couldn't help but break all over again. He was her only hope right now, and his failure to pick
His calls weren't helping matters.
" Please pick up Martin, Please… " Callie murmurs but the phone just keeps on ringing till it cuts. Callie couldn't help but feel more miserable, Tears rolled down her cheeks as she couldn't hold it anymore, Callie burst out crying.
Her cell phone rang out loud and quickly, Callie grabs the phone and picks up immediately
" Martin? " Callie says immediately
" Good morning to you, darling, " Came the voice of a woman. Callie looks at her phone checking the ID caller just to see it was her mother, She frowned
" What do you want? " She questioned immediately, Her tone not so friendly
" Is that the way you talk to your mother? " Ellen questions
" I said, what do you want? " Callie asked
" I guess the simple task given to you isn't working fine for you after all," Ellen said but Callie doesn't say anything
" Guess we should be expecting you tomorrow, I will send the guards to come to pick you up "
" I can drive, " Callie said.
" No, You won't. For someone who is going to get married soon, I say you should save yourself the stress.. "
" I have a boyfriend and I love him! " Callie said hoping that will get her off her back
" Is he the one you are desperately waiting for to call? " Mrs Ellen asked and no words formed in her mouth.
When her mother chuckled, She frowned and then the call ended.
Callie looks at her phone with pure hatred, She looks up, holding back the tears that were threatening to fall.
