It was finally Christmas eve. I stared out into the glistening lake down below, my elbows perched precariously on top of the rooftop’s balustrade.
These past couple of months had gone by as though they were just minutes — fleeting and most certainly short-lived. The next day after tomorrow I’m gonna be leaving for Australia. And to be honest with you, I don’t know when I’ll be back again — or if I will ever be back. I mean, the threat to Alexei’s life was now gone, every single loose thread possibly fixed. He doesn’t need me anymore in here.
It’s time I finished my duties and finally go home. Besides, I think he can take good care of himself already. I mean, apart from babysitting his huge ass for half a year, I wasn’t really able to do much for him.
