What's done is done

Lexi Pov What was she supposed to do now? A baby, What a joke. The universe or someone must really hate her for making her go through everything she had. Maybe it was just Karma coming back to get her forever agreeing to that dumb marriage. She was smart enough to know that it wasn't for good intentions. He asked her on their first date for crying out loud. Why does Theo always affect her? She would let that dumb man down whatever he wanted. She would always let him run all over her. Caroline interrupted her mental berating of herself, "Perhaps you should call your father. He has been asking, and now I think you need his support," Caroline told her honestly. "Perhaps you are right, he will know what to do going forward. This is a lot to wrap my head around, and I'm still struggling with it to be honest," Lexi responded to her. Now she just needed to locate her phone. She didn't need it, so it was lost somewhere. She recalled the last time she used it, talking to her father. Yup, it was still there in the living room where she left it when it first arrived. The sucker is probably dead though, so she won't be able to text her dad until after she charged it. She walked over to her phone and to her surprise it was fully charged, like it was just waiting for her. This had to be Caroline's doing. That woman was a godsend and the best friend she had ever had. Lexi had over a hundred missed messages, all from random unknown numbers, but in some of the contexts she could gather they were coming from Theo. They all asked to call him, message him, blah, blah, blah. Why was he even trying to still get in touch with her? He had gotten what he wanted. He should be off somewhere honeymooning with his new bride, the one he wanted in the first place. That fake stupid Candy t***! She just left them. She wasn't going to respond to him or let him know anything that was going on with her. She needed to be stronger and not always give into him. She loved him more than anything she always had. He was her bodyguard growing up, and they were always together. She just wanted him to love her back. Was that so hard to ask? She needed to calm down. The doctor literally just told her how bad it was for the baby, so she took a deep breath. She went to the messages to her dad and decided to start there. He would know what she should do. L: S.O.S have been feeling sick for a while now and Caroline found a doctor to come look at me today. D: What's wrong sweetie, what did the doctor say? Is everything alright or do I need to make flight plans? L: I'm pregnant. What am I supposed to do? D: I was unaware you consummated the marriage sweetie. L:Can we please not talk about that part? We did, Dad. I'm freaking out. D:Well, don't do that. What is done is done, can't turn back time, right sweetie? It was just concerning to me because Theo refused to sign the annulment papers. L: Does that also mean I am still married to... seriously dad?!! D: Please remain calm, I am working on it. The pregnant part you need to stay healthy for the baby. You're going to be a mommy so start reading about it. L: Is that all you have to say? D: Yes, you can't change it so you have to learn how to deal with it, right? L: You are right, daddy, I'm just really scared and never thought I'd be in this position. D: I know, have you had an ultrasound yet? L:No dad, Caroline got the doctor to come to the flat. D: Well, schedule an ultrasound, get that taken care of first. Then message me after you have done that and read about 10 pregnancy and motherhood books. I will continue trying to get your annulment pushed through. L: OK, I will do that and thank you for being rational with me, making me understand. D: Love you now, make the appointment, or I will be calling Caroline. L:Love you to Daddy, and I'm going to have her do it now and see how soon we can get it done. Lexi wasn't sure if talking to her Dad helped or not, but he did make her understand that she didn't have time to dwell. She was going to be a mother, whether she liked it or not. It wasn't the baby's fault that its father was a complete B******! She would be the best mother she could be and raise the child to be loving and strong. It may not have been made with love on Theo's part, but on her part it was, so she would just pour all that love into loving her child. "Caroline, can you call the hospital and see when I can get scheduled for an ultrasound?" Lexi asked. "Already done, and was just coming to tell you that you needed to get ready because I made an appointment and the car will be here in an hour!" Caroline told her, smirking. "You're quite sneaky, miss Caroline!" Lexi told her, giggling but getting up to prepare herself. She not only needed to look presentable, she had to mentally prepare for being around other people again. She was going to ask Caroline to accompany her so she wasn't alone. She absolutely never thought she would be alone and pregnant. She is only 18. She was ready to start her adult life but not fast-forward straight to being a single mother. She couldn't dwell on those thoughts. Though her father was right, there was nothing to be done now to accept acceptance. She wanted to start feeling excited. Perhaps her father was right about that as well. She should start reading. It might help her get happier about the prospects of motherhood. She thought back to the second part of news shared by her father: Why wouldn't he just sign the d*** papers? It had to be his father pressuring him to keep the marriage. She was now showered, so she at least smelled clean. She shaved everywhere as well, just in case. "Caroline, what is the weather like? I'm not sure what to wear. Also, will you please accompany me?" Lexi asked after tracking her to her bedroom in only a towel. Caroline giggled: "I was already asked by your father to go with you. He didn't want you to be alone, and, as your friend, I would never let you be alone. Also, it's a bit chilly. Best dress a bit warm." "Thank you, Caroline, can you let me know when the car has arrived? Just going to go finish getting dressed and dry my hair," Lexi replied, turning around and heading back to get dressed. She found some thermal leggings and a nice fluffy sweater. Now she just needed her boots and she was ready to go. It wasn't fancy, but she would be warm and comfortable. She wasn't ready to leave her flat yet. In her mind she still had unfinished books and wasn't ready to go back into the world. For the health and worry of an unborn child she didn't expect. Surprisingly, she was willing to do just about anything. Her father was absolutely correct what's done is done. You can't change certain things in life, you just accept them, move on and either be miserable about it or happy. She decided she'd be happy, she would be a mother soon. Someone she could share her knowledge with. Someone who would love her exactly as she was.
