Ci-Ci

Lexi POV Standing outside the place her mother sent her, it didn't look like much. She wouldn't have ever noticed it without her mother. She walked through, and it didn't look at all like a clothing store. It had a podium set in the center of the room, but it looked like a lounge otherwise. "Hiya Ci-Ci, here what can I help you with?" Ci-Ci looked to be in her early 40's which didn't mean much to Lexi. She got along with those of a mature age, rather than her own. "My mom sent me... too well, I am turning 18 and want to take my look from young to not!" Lexi wasn't sure how to explain what it was she was there for. Next time she was just going to bring her mother with her. "You are a gorgeous doll. A Coscove, right. So you want to be an adult, huh? Your mama asked me about you a couple of years ago, but are you ready now? This is going to be so much fun. Step up on the podium so we can get you all measured up. Then we will send in someone to deal with that hair and your nails." Ci-Ci was almost bouncing up and down excited about the coming makeover. "So this is like a one-stop shop? I do really want to look like a successful adult. My career could lead more towards business or business casual if we could make sure to get that as well. Also, my mom requires me to have a formal dress. So, yes, make me an adult. I'm more than ready. This isn't exactly in my knowledge base, so I'm glad for the help!" It took the entire day, the entire day, like a whole 8 hours. She had her hair, colored nails done and tried on so many clothes. Finally, Ci-Ci had declared her done and said she was wrapping her new wardrobe to be sent to my home and picking out an outfit for me to wear out of her shop. My hoodie and leggings were never to be seen in or around her shop again, according to her. "Your outfit is in the fitting room, put the dress on from feet up not head down. Your hair is straightened and full of shine, so don't mess it up. Also, leave the old clothes so they can be burnt please!" Ci-Ci tried to give a stern look but was all smiles. She didn't want to admit it, but today had been really fun if not for exhausting. She put the outfit Ci-Ci picked out for her on and it was gorgeous. She was wondering why she had never worn a dress before. They were so comfy, and she really enjoyed twirling around like a little girl, not that she would ever admit that to anyone. A yellow sundress with spaghetti strap sleeves paired with a pair of wedge sandals in white and a white purse to pair it all together. Ci-Ci also left her a lace shawl with intricate flower designs, it was just in case it got chilly. She really did feel beautiful and all woman. Looking in the mirror, her brown hair now had undertones of red and different shades of brown. It wasn't its normal curly crazy self but straightened, and being straightened it sat just above her bum. Her makeup looked natural, just more grown up, and the dress was everything. It came to just above her knees and flared out a bit at the waist, perfect for twirling. She felt so much more confident than she ever had, she was a genius, and who would have thought a makeover could change your whole perspective? "Wow! Look at that smile, it looks like my work here is done Chica! I'm having everything sent to your house so you can be on your way. I'm sure you want to stop nextdoor. The bookstore is open for another hour, so best get a move on. Show the world the new grown up you." Ci-Ci was bouncing on her toes while she talked. "I really do love it, thank you so much! Hey, if you aren't busy on Saturday you can come to my birthday party if you'd like. I know we are ages apart, but it was easy talking to you. I don't find a lot of people I can connect with, so it would be great if you could make it." Lexi would be more than happy if she could make it. Maybe she had her first female friend, and if not, she was still an awesome stylist and someone who could always make her look good. Just as Ci-Ci was about to respond, her phone started to ring so she held her finger up to give her a minute. "Hello, Alexandria Coscove. Speaking may I ask whose calling." "Hi Dr. Coscove this is Dr. Franks, I'm just calling you because your name was the first of the names of candidates we want to head up a dig we have planned in Greece. Was wondering if this would be something that would interest you?" "Can you give any details about what artifacts were found or are expected to be found?" "I cannot answer any specifics, especially over the phone, but the discovery could be a revolutionary find. You have a couple of months to decide. The dig starts in three, but we want the team finalized in two. Think about it, and I will give you a call back to check in and see if you have any more concerns or a decision." "Thank you Dr. Franks, I will, and thanks for the opportunity I will speak to you later." After hanging up the phone, she looked at Ci-Ci who was just staring at her with an open-mouthed expression. "Sorry I had to take that, so did you want to come on Saturday?" "I will absolutely be there, doll, and I had no idea you were a doctor. Sorry for overhearing but that's so awesome!" Still bouncing, Ci-Ci told her. "I actually have two doctorates but still just like to go by Lexi. I have an idenic memory, so stuff comes very easily to me, and I love to read and learn. I don't want to be pompous by making people call me Dr. and also don't want to have to defend my age in terms of a doctorate." She was totally honest with her, she didn't like to talk about any of her accomplishments. People either thought her snooty or a liar, so it was best just to keep it to herself. "I think I totally get what you mean doll, but get going to get a new book on Greece! See you Saturday." Ci-Ci was no longer bouncing but still had a huge smile on her face. Lexi waved as she walked out of the shop. She still felt amazing, and she was most definitely going to find more than one book on Greece. This could be huge. If they didn't even want to talk about details on the phone, what is it they are expecting to find? It was also a huge honor to be asked to head up a project. She was going to give it some thought but she, more than anything, wanted to go out and see the world. This could be her start to just that. Adult life was definitely looking great, and she was excited about what was to come. She may have been teased and ridiculed growing up, but going forward she planned on not allowing it. She was the new and improved Lexi. Watch out world. Walking into the bookstore she couldn't help but take a deep inhale and enjoy the smell coming from all the printed pages. Nothing smelled better than a book, library books were better than the new ones, and she still didn't understand why. She made it to the section about Greece and ended up buying not one but 8 books. Looks like she had something to keep her busy until Saturday.
