Heavyn's POV
I stare at the card that Jaxon gave me. I will take him up on that offer but make it a dinner date instead of coffee.
I text his cell number, saying 'I will take you up on that offer. But, let's switch it to dinner instead of coffee. How does tonight sound for you?'
I wait for about 10 minutes and I get a response.
'Sure thing, pretty lady. Will get you at 7 pm. See you then,' he replied.
I smiled and place my phone on the charger and then on the table near me. Prince Devin then comes back and sits down behind his work desk. He starts working on documents and pays no mind to me.
I sighed and ask, "Everything alright? Is there anything I can help you with? Looks like a lot of documents there."
He just looks up and utters, "No. Just stay there and do whatever you want to. If you need anything, let me know and I will get it for you. Understand?" I nodded.
"Well, that is out of royal duties. Are there any people who I can call on while you work? If I need any help?" I asked.
He doesn't look up and just shakes his head. "Stay there and please don't disturb me, okay? I am very busy," he warns.
I just sit back and watch him while he works. Why is he being aggressive? Wasn't he the one who did wrong and even said that he would help us date nice guys? I got one and I even know him from the past. So I thought he should be happy with this. I get a phone call from Jaxon and pick it up.
"Hey there. What's up? You want to help me when I am done getting ready? Alright then, I will get someone here to help me with getting dressed up. See you soon," I said.
I end the call and see Prince Devin looking at me with a strange look on his face. I wonder why he looks like this?
"So, you decided to take him up on his offer? Even made it into a dinner date? When I said not to?" he asked, chuckling.
"I sure did. Well, you are engaged so I don't know why you should even care? Tell me why you care so much when you were the one who said that you were going to help us find nice guys to date, right? I didn't forget that, if you must know, Your Highness," I said. He chuckled.
"And you thought I was serious about that? Helping to find you a nice guy or any other guy at that? If I wanted you? Why would I send you to another guy at all?" he asked. I gasped.
"So you lied to me again? I am not surprised because you don't know how to tell me the truth yet you just get to do what you want and talk to me anyhow, right?" I said, boldly.
"Glad I'm going on this dinner date with Jaxon. Who knows? We might even spend the night together or become official boyfriend and girlfriend and there is nothing you will be able to do," I said.
He just goes back to his work and I get up slowly to go get ready for this dinner date with Jaxon. He sighed as I left his study. Or did I imagine that? Why would he care about what happens on our date?
~A while later~
I hear the door open and hear his voice.
"Is she ready? Or does she need more time?" he asked. I look at Destiny to see what she thinks of my dress choice.
"You look ravishing, sister. Go get your man. I'm rooting for you both and I know that you both are just recollecting," she says, smiling. I give her a hug and head down the stairs slowly to see both Prince Devin and Jaxon talking to one another. I clear my throat softly and they look my way.
They both gasped and say, "Wow." I just smiled.
"I am one of the luckiest men alive to be taking this beauty out tonight. Are we ready, my beauty?" Jaxon asked, walking over to help me down.
I nodded and said, "We sure are. I hope this isn't too much for where we are going tonight? Like I am not overdressed? Or underdressed?" I asked.
"No. You will be the best dressed one tonight because all eyes are going to be on you. You look amazing and I might not let you come back home tonight," he said, while chuckling.
I feel myself blushing and I notice the look on Prince Devin's face. He is aggravated and that's his own issue, to say the least, I think.
"Well, let's head on out. We will back later. See you, Des! Be safe!" I call out.
Destiny smiles and says, "Have fun and be safe, you two! Rooting for you!" She waves goodbye.
Jaxon and I get into his car.
"You look very handsome tonight. Where do you have us going to? Dressed like this?" I asked.
"Thank you, love. We are heading to one of my favorite restaurants that has a dance floor and bar attached to it. Has great food on the menu. Hope it's to your liking," he said. I smiled.
"Well, since you enjoy it, I know I will too. No one has ever taken the time to take me somewhere really nice before. So, thank you for this," I said. He smiled.
"Of course. It's really no issue. Wait, didn't you use to date Eze back then? What happened with him?" he asked. I sighed.
“We didn't last and ended up breaking up recently. He used to beat me and his brother used to beat Destiny, but I would end up taking her hits to protect her. They were finally arrested last week after work when we exposed them to the public, so yeah, that's what happened and why we're not together anymore. "
Quietness.
All I heard was utter silence. What did I say wrong? Little did I know, was I about to find out why he kept quiet after why I told him what happened between Eze and myself in our relationship. Was I prepared for this?
Maybe, maybe not.
